📝 Quick summary of key information
How do penguins survive in the freezing cold?
Penguins mostly live in Antarctica, a continent covered in ice. It is very cold there, often below zero degrees. The cold is so intense that water freezes quickly. Penguins have learned to adapt to this extreme climate.
To stay warm in the cold, penguins have thick, waterproof feathers that keep them cozy. They also have a layer of fat under their skin, like a natural little blanket. They mostly eat fish and shellfish, which gives them the energy they need to survive in the freezing cold.
Penguins are real acrobats on ice and in water. On ice, they walk by waddling, which helps them keep their balance. In water, they swim with grace and speed, using their wings like paddles. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by controlling the fish population and serving as food for other animals.
In short, penguins are survival champions in the cold. Thanks to their feathers, their layer of fat, their energy-rich food, and their moving techniques, they manage to live in one of the most hostile environments on the planet. They are also very important for the balance of their ecosystem.

How do penguins survive in the freezing cold?
The Secrets of the Ice
It's the middle of winter in Antarctica (1) where our story begins. The sparkling snow and majestic (2) glaciers (3) create a stunning scene where Niko, the adventurous and speedy young penguin, and Nuna, the curious and mischievous little penguin, are always having fun. After sliding on the ice and jumping into the cold water, Niko and Nuna find themselves on the ice floe, ready to discover new wonders. As they explore, they learn about the rules of community life and how penguins help each other stay warm.
Niko, excited, then says:
« Nuna, do you want to slide on the ice with me? »
Nuna, curious and mischievous, answers:
« Yes, Niko, I love sliding! »
After sliding on the ice, Niko and Nuna decide to jump into the cold water. They swim together, learning more about the secrets of the ice floe. Protection from the cold is provided by a layer of fat and insulating feathers, which are unique (4) to penguins. Play and fun continue in the cold water, strengthening their bond with the surrounding (5) nature.
Niko, curious, asks:
« Nuna, have you seen how the penguins help each other? »
Nuna, curious, then explains:
« Yes, Niko, they huddle together to stay warm. »
Soon after, Niko and Nuna spot a mysterious (6) blue glow in the distance. Curious, they decide to go find out what it is, starting their big adventure.
The Penguin Adventure
Niko and Nuna walk on the ice. They follow the blue glow. The wind blows strongly, but they bravely move forward. Nuna wears her soft pink scarf to keep warm, and they know their thick layer of fat protects them from the cold.
Niko, amazed, says: « Nuna, look at these icebergs (7)! »
Nuna, amazed, says:
« Yes, Niko, they are wonderful! »
Niko, after watching the icebergs, asks Nuna:
« Nuna, do you want to climb on this iceberg? »
Nuna, curious and mischievous, answers:
« Yes, Niko, let's go! »
After climbing the iceberg, Niko and Nuna discover an amazing view. The ice floe stretches as far as they can see. They see penguins huddling together to stay warm. They understand that snuggling close to each other helps them survive in the cold.
After following the mysterious blue glow, Niko and Nuna find themselves at the foot of Great Bear Peak. The mountain, majestic and snowy, catches their eye. Sure they will find answers there, the two brave little penguins start to climb the steep slope. They know that Bjorn, a wise old polar bear, lives up there and knows all the legends of the ice floe. Niko and Nuna can't wait to listen to him and discover new adventures. Who knows what wonders they will find on their next outing?
