📝 Quick summary of key information

Why does Néo the narwhal have a long spiral tusk?

The narwhal is a fascinating sea mammal, often called the 'unicorn of the sea' because of its long, spiral tusk. It lives in the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean, near the ice.

This tusk, which can grow up to 3 meters long, is actually a long tooth. It mainly helps to sense changes in water temperature and saltiness, helping the narwhal find food.

Narwhals eat fish, squid, and shrimp. They use their tusk to feel the ocean floor and find their food. They often dive deep to find their meal.

Narwhals live in groups called
« pods », which can have up to 20 individuals. They are very social and spend lots of time swimming together. This helps them protect themselves from predators.

The Narwhal and the Final Challenge

Why does the narwhal have a long spiral tusk?

Meeting Néo

After learning from Stella the Arctic tern(1) how she travels thousands of miles every year to find warmer nesting places, Niko and Nuna are filled with wonder and a desire for adventure. They continue their journey with new energy, determined to discover the secrets of the ice floe(2). Soon after, they find themselves at the foot of a huge, blue-glowing glacier(3) known as the Sparkling Glacier. The two penguins, Niko and Nuna, watch the Northern Lights dance in the night sky, lighting up the ice floe with a thousand colors. They know their next adventure awaits here, hidden under the ice and snow.

Niko, amazed, shouts:
« Look, Nuna, it's wonderful! »

Nuna, after looking at the cave, asks:
« Yes, but where is the treasure? »

After watching the show, Niko and Nuna go to the iceberg. Suddenly, a white shape comes out of the water. It's a narwhal named Néo. He has a long, shiny spiral(4) tusk(5). Néo greets them with a warm smile.

Néo the narwhal, curious, asks then:
« Hi, I am Néo. Are you looking for something? »

Niko, eyes sparkling, says:
« Yes, a hidden treasure under the ice. »

Nuna, curious, asks:
« Can you help us find it? »

Néo the narwhal, with an encouraging smile, says:
« Of course, follow me. I will show you. »

Thanks to the sounds made by Néo the narwhal, a hidden cave under the ice appears... This is where the long-sought treasure is! What is inside? The adventure is just beginning!

The Treasure Discovery

Niko and Nuna follow Néo the narwhal into the hidden cave. The moonlight softly lights up the icy walls, creating blue glows on the surface. They walk carefully, amazed by the beauty of the place. The cave is quiet, only disturbed by the sound of their footsteps and the gentle murmur of the water.

Niko, amazed, says:
« It's wonderful here! »

Nuna, amazed, whispers:
« Yes, it's like a secret world. »

Néo the narwhal, very excited, says:
« Look, we are at the back of the cave. »

They discover a sparkling treasure at the bottom of the cave. But it is not a treasure of gold coins or jewels. It is a treasure of knowledge! Old maps, tales of polar(6) journeys, and secrets of the ice floe are hidden there. Néo the narwhal explains that this treasure was gathered by the ancient narwhals to preserve the memory of their people.

Niko, curious, asks:
« Why does Néo the narwhal have a long spiral tusk? »

Néo the narwhal, curious, starts to explain: « It is essential for exploring and understanding our environment. It helps us to check(7) the ice and find openings to breathe. »

As Niko and Nuna look at the sparkling treasure, they are told that there are other secrets hidden in the icy depths. It is said that, tomorrow, more treasures could be found with the help of new friends, like a wise polar bear or a playful family of seals. But for now, this magical moment is enjoyed, ready to write new pages of polar adventures.
