📝 Quick summary of key information
Why do ants work together?
Ants live in a colony, which means in a big group. They choose this way of life to better protect themselves and work together. An ant colony is like a big family where everyone has an important role.
Ants talk to each other using special chemicals called pheromones. They leave trails of these pheromones to show paths to food. It's like they draw invisible maps for their ant friends.
In an anthill, there are different ants with special jobs. The queen lays eggs, the workers find food and build the nest, and the soldiers protect the anthill. Each one plays an important role for the anthill to work well.
Ants are very helpful in their environment. They help break down organic waste, like dead leaves, and aerate the soil. Thanks to them, the soil stays healthy and fertile, which is good for plants and other animals.

The Ant and the Big Carry
Why do ants work together?
The Discovery of the Indian File
After exploring the flowers of Rainbow Meadow and discovering why bees and butterflies love sweet nectar (1) so much, Lili the ladybug and Gaston the beetle, full and happy, continue their adventure (2) in the garden. They learned that nectar is a precious source of energy for insects, allowing them to fly and pollinate (3) plants. As they walk among the tall grasses, they hear a strange buzzing (4) and see small brown figures moving in a line.
Lili, curious, asks:
« What are they carrying? »
Gaston, curious, suggests:
« Let's follow them to see. »
After following the line, they notice a medium-sized ant with a dark brown body carrying a leaf much bigger than herself. The ant stops and greets them warmly. Lili and Gaston are curious to know how she manages to carry such a big leaf.
Lili, curious, asks:
« How do you carry this leaf? »
Gaston, amazed, says:
« She is bigger than you. »
With Anouk the ant's help, they discover teamwork and help carry a big petal to the entrance of the anthill!
The Big Petal Adventure
Once the big petal was placed at the entrance of the anthill, the other ants thanked them warmly. They were impressed by Lili and Gaston's strength and cleverness (5). Lili and Gaston were proud of their achievement (6) and the new friendship they had made with Anouk the ant.
Lili, curious, asks:
« How do you carry such heavy things? »
Gaston, amazed, exclaims:
« It's amazing how you all work together! You are really impressive! »
Anouk the ant, with a proud smile, explains:
« We work together. Together, we are stronger. »
Lili, amazed, says:
« That's true, we saw a medium-sized ant carrying a small green leaf. It's amazing how you work together to carry such heavy things! »
Gaston, proud of himself, says:
« And we carried the petal together. »
Anouk the ant, with a confident smile, says:
« Exactly. Together, we can do anything. »
After helping Anouk the ant and her friends, Lili and Gaston head to Rainbow Meadow. They find a grasshopper, an elegant (7) and agile creature, jumping from leaf to leaf as if dancing in the air. They wonder how it can jump so high. Curious, they decide to watch it closely to uncover the mystery of its amazing jumps. Their next adventure begins, full of surprises and discoveries.
