📝 Quick summary of key information
How does Cricri the cricket make music?
The cricket is a small insect known for making lovely sounds. You often hear it sing in fields and gardens, especially during summer evenings. But how does it make this music?
The cricket uses its wings to make sounds. The male rubs one wing against the other, like a musician playing the guitar. This quick movement creates friction that makes special sounds. This is how the cricket makes music!
The chirps of crickets do many things. They use their songs to find a friend, especially during the love season. The sounds can also warn of danger or mark their territory. It's like the crickets are talking to each other!
Grasshoppers mostly live in meadows, fields, and gardens. They eat plants and spend their day looking for food and avoiding predators. They are very active and always moving, which makes them fascinating to watch.

How does Cricri the cricket make music ?
The Mysterious Melody
After watching a green cricket, Lili discovers that its strong back (1) legs allow it to make amazing jumps. Fascinated (2), they are led by Cricri the cricket to the heart of a garden filled with colorful flowers and tall, fragrant grasses. As the sun goes down, a melody is heard throughout the garden. Curious, Lili and Gaston search for the source of this enchanting (3) (4) sound.
Lili, curious, asks:
« What is that sound? »
Gaston, curious, says:
« I don't know. Let's go see. »
The melody guides them through Rainbow Meadow, where petals shine in different colors. Bees dance in rhythm there. They are then led along the Singing Stream, which whispers pretty songs as it flows over smooth and golden pebbles. Finally, they arrive at the Butterfly Palace, where the melody seems to come from.
Lili, amazed, says:
« Look, Gaston! Colorful butterflies are fluttering around. »
Gaston, curious, says:
« You're right, Lili! Look, over there, on that leaf, there's a cricket that seems to be the source of this enchanting melody. It looks like he's waiting for us. »
A soft and soothing melody is made by Cricri the cricket, who rubs his wings against his back legs. It is explained to Lili and Gaston that this song is used to communicate, especially at sunset, to attract females and warn other crickets about the presence of predators (5). Lili and Gaston listen carefully to the melody, amazed by this discovery.
Cricri the cricket teaches them to listen to the sounds of the garden and gives them a magical concert by the moonlight.
The Magic Concert
Cricri the cricket starts to sing. The sounds of his wings echo all around the garden. Butterflies gently come closer, drawn by the melody.
Lili, amazed, whispers then:
« Cricri the cricket, your music is magical. »
Gaston, amazed, says:
« That's right, I hear sounds I've never noticed before. It's like the garden is singing with you, Cricri the cricket! »
Fireflies light up their little sparkling (6) lights, creating a magical atmosphere. Lili and Gaston are amazed by this show.
Cricri the cricket, with a mischievous smile, explains:
« Every sound in the garden has a special meaning. »
Gaston, curious, then adds:
« For example, the buzzing of the bees means they are collecting nectar. »
Lili, curious, then adds:
« And the birds' song announces the arrival of morning. »
Cricri the cricket, with his melodious voice, explains:
« The sounds of the garden are important for communication between different species. »
Night falls softly, and with it, the gentle melody of Cricri the cricket fades away. Tomorrow, new adventures await Lili the ladybug and Gaston the beetle. After listening to the sounds of the garden, they are ready to discover other wonders. As the sun rises, Lili and Gaston wake up, eager to continue their exploration. They head towards the Giant Mushroom Forest, where they spot a praying mantis that seems frozen like a statue. This long-lasting stillness (7) puzzles the two friends, who wonder why the praying mantis stays so still for so long.
