📝 Quick summary of key information

Why does Leon the Dormouse climb trees so well?

The dormouse is a small animal known for its amazing ability to climb trees. Its paws have sharp claws that help it hold on to the bark easily. Its tail is long and fluffy, and it helps the dormouse keep its balance.

The dormouse lives mainly in the forests of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. It likes to hide in hollow trees or nests abandoned by other animals. These shelters give it a safe refuge from predators and bad weather.

The dormouse is a nighttime animal. This means it is active at night and sleeps during the day. It mostly eats fruits, nuts, and berries. In the winter, it hibernates. This means it sleeps deeply to save energy.

The dormouse plays an important role in its ecosystem. By eating fruits and seeds, it helps spread the seeds of plants, encouraging the growth of new forests. It is also a source of food for other animals, like birds of prey.

Leon the Dormouse and the Dream of the Branches

Why does the dormouse climb so well in the trees ?

The Meeting with Leon

After listening to Barnabé sing happily on his lily pad, Nox and Luma the bat learned that toads sing at night to attract their partners. They also discovered that the strange sounds of toads can reveal hidden secrets in nature. The Lake of Starry Reflections still shone under the moon when they decided to continue their exploration. While flying over the Forest of Dancing Shadows, they spotted a small, agile figure jumping from branch to branch. Intrigued(1), they decided to go down to find out more.

Nox, curious, asks:
« Who are you? »

Luma, admiring, exclaims:
« You are very agile! »

Leon the Dormouse, with a cheeky smile, says:
« I am Leon the Dormouse. I love climbing trees. »

Not long after, it was revealed that Leon the Dormouse had seen a strange light shining(2) at the top of the trees in the Dancing Shadows Forest. Curious, Nox and Luma listened carefully as Leon described this discovery. Leon, always ready to help his friends(3), offered to guide Nox and Luma to this mysterious(4) light, hoping to find out together what it could be.

Nox, excited, shouts:
« This is exactly what we are looking for! A mysterious light in the Dancing Shadows Forest, it's an adventure waiting for us. We will find out what it is together. »

Luma, excited, says:
« Let's go! »

Nox, Luma and Leon the Dormouse head towards the mysterious light. Along the way, they watch the nighttime behaviors of animals and the adaptations of plants.

The Mystery in the Forest

They saw fireflies glowing(5) in the dark, lighting up the Firefly Path.

Luma, amazed, shouts:
« Look at the fireflies! »

Nox, amazed, says:
« They are beautiful! »

The glow of the fireflies was used to attract partners and to find their way in the night. The songs of the crickets, who made sounds with their wings, were also heard. These sounds helped them talk to their friends. That's when a little creature caught their attention.

Leon the Dormouse, while jumping from branch to branch, explains:
« The crickets sing to talk to each other. »

It was explained that crickets have special organs(6) to make sounds, called stridulations(7). The young explorers, curious about the sparkling light seen by Leon the Dormouse, went to the base of a big oak tree, where the light was shining brightly.

With Leon the Dormouse as their guide, Nox and Luma discovered a small creature that climbed skillfully up the tree trunks. It was Leon the Dormouse, who loved climbing the oak trees. Leon told them he had seen a strange light shining at the top of the trees in the Dancing Shadows Forest. Curious, the young explorers followed Leon to the base of a big oak tree, where the light was shining brightly. By watching the light, they understood that nature is full of mysteries and wonders, and that every animal has unique talents. While exploring the forest, they learned the importance of observation and patience. The light they had found became a valuable clue for their future adventures. They decided to continue their nighttime explorations, knowing that each night held new discoveries. Next time, they would head towards the Glowing Cave, where other secrets awaited them. Perhaps they would discover even more fascinating animals and incredible natural phenomena there.
