📝 Quick summary of key information

Why does the brown bear hibernate in winter?

Hibernation is a long nap that some animals take in winter. During this time, they sleep deeply to save energy. Brown bears need it to survive the cold months.

In winter, it is hard for brown bears to find food. Plants and small animals hide or go away. So, they prefer to sleep to not waste energy.

In the fall, brown bears eat a lot to store fat. They then look for a safe and cozy place to sleep, often in a cave or a hollow tree.

During hibernation, brown bears sleep for many months. Their bodies work slowly, like a car that drives without speeding up. They wake up in the spring, ready to explore again.

Baloo the Bear and the Sacred Mountain

Why does the brown bear hibernate in winter?

The Sacred Mountain

After a thrilling(1) game of hide-and-seek with Lapinet, an energetic rabbit, Forestin and Fleurie found out why the rabbit runs so fast. Between the games and laughter, they learned that Lapinet's speed is essential to escape predators(2). Intrigued by the forest's mysteries, they decided to continue their exploration towards even more enchanted lands. Soon after, they found themselves at the foot of a majestic(3) mountain, where the trees are older(4) and the flowers rarer. It is there that they met Baloo the Bear, a peaceful medium-sized brown bear, known for his wisdom and love of nature.

Forestin, curious, asks:
« Hi Baloo the Bear, do you know this mountain well? »

Fleurie, eyes sparkling with curiosity, asks:
« Is this where you found the treasure? »

Baloo the Bear, with a warm smile, says: « Of course, I know every corner of this mountain. The colorful plants are magical(5). »

Forestin, curious, asks:
« What about the rocks with strange shapes? »

Baloo the Bear, showing the rocks, says: « The rocks tell old(6) stories. They hide treasures. »

Baloo the Bear shows them an old symbol carved on a rock, confirming the existence of the hidden treasure.

The Secret of Hibernation

After looking at(7) the ancient symbol, Forestin and Fleurie wonder what it means. They carefully watch the details carved into the rock.

Forestin, curious, asks:
« Baloo the Bear, what does this symbol mean? »

Fleurie, her eyes shining with curiosity, asks:
« Yes, tell us the story. »

Baloo the Bear, with a kind smile, starts to explain:
« This symbol talks about the old bears. They slept for a long time in the mountain. »

Forestin, curious, asks then:
« Why did they sleep so long? »

Baloo the Bear, with a kind smile, explains:
« To survive the winter. They eat a lot before. They sleep for a long time. »

After looking at the old symbol, Forestin and Fleurie, curious and amazed, decide to go back down to the forest. On their way, they hear strange noises above them. Intrigued, they wonder what the black stork, Cigo, is doing up in the trees. They decide to follow the noises and solve the mystery. With the hope of new adventures and new discoveries, they continue their exploration, always guided by their curiosity and love for nature.
