The Salamander and the Magic of Rain

Why does the spotted salamander come out when it rains?

Meeting Sally

After watching Cigo, the majestic white stork, Forestin and Fleurie discover the secrets of the forest's heights. The birds, perched on the branches, show them how to live in harmony(1) with the elements. The rain begins to fall softly, revealing a new adventure to explore. Forestin, the little fawn with tiny antlers(2) and golden fur, and Fleurie, his sister with curious eyes and a spotted coat, take shelter under a big oak tree. They watch the raindrops bead on the leaves and slide down the branches. Suddenly, a small green figure appears, dancing happily under the drops.

Forestin, curious, says:
« Look, Fleurie! Who is this little green dancer? »

Fleurie, curious about the little green figure, says:
« I don't know. Let's go closer to see. »

Forestin, curious, walks up and says:
« Hello! You are very pretty. Who are you? »

Fleurie, amazed, says:
« You have beautiful green skin with golden spots. And your eyes are so big! You must be a salamander, right? »

After watching the little dancer, Forestin and Fleurie discover it is Sally the Salamander. She has wet(3) skin with dark spots that shine in the sun. Her eyes are small and dark. She has small, quick feet and a long tail that helps her move with agility(4). The two fawns, amazed, gently approach her.

Sally tells them that a mysterious moss-covered rock holds a key clue about the hidden treasure of the forest.

The Mystery of the Rock

Excitedly, Sally shows them the way. The wet leaves crunch under their feet. They walk slowly towards the mysterious rock.

Forestin, curious, asks:
« Sally, why does moss grow here? »

Sally the Salamander, with a mischievous smile, explains:
« Moss loves water. It grows where it is very wet. »

Fleurie, amazed, says:
« That's true. Look, Forestin, there are water drops everywhere. »

Forestin and Fleurie follow Sally the Salamander. They watch the little water drops on the leaves. They are amazed by the beauty of the wet forest.

Forestin, curious, asks:
« Sally, what are we looking for under the rock? »

Sally the Salamander, with a mysterious smile, explains:
« We are looking for a hidden treasure. It could be a magic stone or a special object. But to find it, we must first discover what this mysterious moss-covered rock hides. »

With Sally the Salamander, the two fawns are led to the mysterious rock, ready to discover the secrets it holds. They know they might face challenges, but they are determined to solve(5) the mystery. They promise to return soon with new adventures to experience and new friends to meet, maybe even a singing bird or a clever(6) fox. Forestin and Fleurie, along with Sally the Salamander, have returned to the clearing(7) with light hearts and minds full of new knowledge. They now know why the spotted salamander comes out when it rains: to explore and protect the hidden treasures of the forest. Their next adventure might lead them to discover other mysteries, but for now, they enjoy the magic of this rainy day and the treasures it has revealed.
