📝 Quick summary of key information
How does a snake move without legs and why does it slide so softly in the jungle?
Snakes are fascinating animals that move without legs. They use a wavy motion, like a wave, or they push off from bumps on the ground. Their smooth and shiny scales act like skates, helping them to slide easily.
In the jungle, snakes slide gently because their skin reduces friction. Their long and flexible bodies help them slip between the branches and leaves, as if they are dancing with nature.
Snakes play an important role in their environment. They help control the number of small animals like mice and rats, which is good for crops and natural habitats.
Snakes live in many different places, like forests, deserts, and even near rivers. They mostly eat small animals that they hunt with patience and clever plans, using their camouflage and speed.

Snake Sammy and the Silent Slide
How does a snake move without legs and why does it slide so softly in the jungle?
Snake Sammy's Silent Dance
After watching Spider Anabelle weave her shiny web in the treetops (1), Jojo and Jolie go down to the jungle floor. They learned how a spider, with its eight agile legs, can create a magical web to catch insects. On their way, they hear a soft rustling (2) between the leaves. Curious, they follow the sound and discover Snake Sammy, silently sliding between the bushes. The two young monkeys, curious, softly approach to observe this mysterious snake.
Jojo, amazed, says:
« Hi Snake Sammy, you slide so well! »
Jolie, curious, asks:
« How do you do that to be so quiet? »
Snake Sammy, with a mysterious smile, explains: « I move by slithering (3). My body curves and moves without a sound. It's like a smooth dance. »
A little while later, Snake Sammy shows how he uses friction (4) between his skin and the ground. The monkeys watch, amazed. Sammy explains that this helps him navigate the hidden corners of the forest.
Jojo, amazed, asks:
« That's amazing! Can you show us how you smell things? »
Jolie, curious, asks:
« Really? But how do you smell hidden scents in the jungle? »
Snake Sammy, with his shiny eyes, then explains: « I stick out my tongue to smell the air. This helps me find food (5) or avoid dangers. »
Snake Sammy offers a little challenge to Jojo and Jolie so they can understand his way of moving better.
The Sliding Challenge
Snake Sammy has a little challenge for Jojo and Jolie. He asks them to follow his example and see how he moves quietly through the leaves and branches.
Snake Sammy, with a mischievous smile, says:
« Try to move like me. Watch out for the leaves. »
Jojo, full of energy, says:
« Okay, let's try. »
Jolie, curious, says then:
« I will try not to make any noise. »
Jojo and Jolie try to copy Snake Sammy's movements, but their little feet make noise and the leaves crunch under their feet.
Snake Sammy, with a reassuring smile, says:
« Don't worry. Practice makes perfect. Watch me closely. »
After many tries, the monkeys finally learn to move almost silently, which makes them very proud.
Snake Sammy, happy, says:
« You did it! Good job. This trick helps to avoid predators and surprise prey in the jungle. »
After learning the secrets of Snake Sammy, Jojo and Jolie head towards the canopy. There, they meet Chameleon Carlos. Curious, they discover that this reptile (6) changes color to blend into its surroundings, a strategy essential for its survival in the jungle. The two monkeys, filled with new knowledge, prepare for their next adventure, ready to discover even more hidden mysteries in the tropical (7) forest.
