📝 Quick summary of key information
Why is the water in the river so important for the meadow?
Rivers are like water highways that go through meadows. They are the home of many animals. You can find birds that sing by the water, fish that swim, frogs that croak, and even beavers that build dams. Deer often come to drink from the river.
Prairie plants like river water too. They drink the water to grow big and stay healthy. Without this water, the flowers and trees wouldn't grow as well. Water also helps feed the soil, which is good for all the plants.
Animals need river water to live. They drink to quench their thirst, bathe to cool off, and find food in and around the water. For example, birds can catch fish, and deer can eat plants that grow near the river.
Rivers help keep the prairie balanced. They bring water and nutrients to the soil, which helps a healthy ecosystem grow. But rivers can be threatened by pollution. It is important to keep rivers clean so that animals and plants can continue to live in harmony.

Crystal River and the Secret of Spring
Why is the river water so important for the meadow ?
The Mystery of the Wet Footprints
After listening to the wise words of Noisette the red squirrel, Félix and Brindille finally understand why squirrels climb trees. They leave the Great Wise Oak, taking with them a precious (1) lesson about the wisdom and cleverness of small rodents. Their endless (2) curiosity leads them to explore other mysteries of the meadow. Soon after, they head towards the Crystal River, drawn by the gentle murmur of flowing water. Félix, with his bushy tail quivering with excitement, and Brindille, perched on his shoulder, get ready for a new adventure.
Félix, excited, says:
« Look, Brindille, footprints! »
Brindille, after looking at the footprints, says:
« They are wet, Félix! »
Félix, after looking at the footprints closely, says:
« Yes, they are fresh and wet. »
After looking at the footprints, Brindille decides to climb onto a rock. She wants to see where they lead. She climbs high, very high. She finds out that the footprints go straight into the water. Curious (3), they wonder what animal could leave such wet tracks.
Félix, curious, asks:
« Brindille, did you see something? »
Brindille, after looking at the footprints, says:
« The footprints go into the water, Félix! »
While looking at the water, they see a mysterious reflection… Could they finally be about to find out who is behind all these clues?
The Mysterious Reflection
The mysterious reflection in the water catches Félix and Brindille's attention. By looking closely, they see a fish that seems to be jumping in an unusual way. They wonder why this fish is behaving like this. Maybe it is looking for something?
Brindille, pointing at the water, says:
« Félix, there are bubbles in the water! »
Félix, after watching the bubbles, explains to Brindille:
« Yes, they come from the surface of the river. »
Brindille, excited by the discovery, says:
« Let's go closer, Félix! »
Félix, curious about the bubbles, says:
« Okay, Brindille. Let's go see together. »
After seeing the wet footprints, Félix and Brindille carefully walk to the edge of the river. Brindille jumps onto a rock to get a better look. She notices bubbles coming up from a hole in the ground. Curious about the mysterious reflection they saw in the water, they decide to follow the trail of wet footprints. Their curiosity leads them to a colorful field, where a fluttering (4) butterfly catches their attention. They head towards the Field of a Thousand Flowers, where a new adventure awaits them. Along the way, they remember how important water is for the meadow and decide to protect this precious treasure. Their journey continues, filled with discoveries and mysteries to solve (5).
