📝 Quick summary of key information

What does Hector the Hedgehog do at night?

The hedgehog is a small nighttime animal. This means he is active at night and sleeps during the day. When the sun goes down, the hedgehog comes out of his hiding place to look for food. He loves to eat insects, worms, and slugs. With his sense of smell, he easily finds what he is looking for.

The hedgehog uses his sense of smell to find his food. He mostly eats insects, worms, slugs, and sometimes small fruits. He is very good at finding his prey even in the dark.

The hedgehog has spikes on its back that protect it from predators. When it feels in danger, it rolls into a ball to protect itself. These spikes are like a natural armor that keeps it safe.

The hedgehog often lives in gardens, woods, and meadows. It helps control the number of insects and small pests, which is good for the ecosystem. It is a true guardian of nature.

The Hedgehog and the Starry Night

What does the hedgehog do at night?

The Nighttime Meeting

After learning about the importance of bees and their golden hive, Félix the fox and Brindille the mouse continue their adventure. They now know that bees are essential for pollinating flowers, keeping the meadow beautiful and alive. Their hearts are full of gratitude for these little workers. As the sun begins to set, painting the sky with orange and pink hues, the two friends decide to walk towards Whispering Hill. They love listening to the whispers(1) of the wind telling old stories.

Not long after, night falls on the meadow. Félix and Brindille see Hector the Hedgehog. Hector is digging in the grass looking for food. His little shiny eyes are searching for prey(2) under the leaves.

Brindille, curious, asks then:
« Why is Hector the Hedgehog so active at night? »

Félix, curious, explains then: « Hector the Hedgehog is a nighttime(3) animal. He eats insects, worms, and sometimes fruits. »

Hector feels their presence. He stands up and nods at them. He seems happy to see them. After exchanging a few secret looks, Hector shows them a feather on the ground.

Hector the Hedgehog, all excited, shows the feather saying:
« I found this feather. It could belong to the one who leaves these footprints. »

Félix and Brindille look at the feather with curiosity. They wonder who could be leaving these mysterious footprints.

The Mysterious Feather

It is then explained to Félix and Brindille that the feather might belong to the one who leaves these mysterious footprints. The feather is observed with curiosity by the two friends, who wonder who could be leaving these intriguing(4) tracks.

Félix, eyes sparkling with curiosity, exclaims:
« It's a beautiful feather. »

Brindille, after stroking the feather, said:
« Yes, it is really soft. I wonder which bird it could belong to. Maybe the one who leaves these footprints is a very big bird? »

Hector the Hedgehog, looking at the feather, says:
« This feather is soft and white, with shimmering colors. »

Félix, curious(5), gently takes the feather between his paws. Brindille looks around, searching for other clues. Hector the Hedgehog explains that this feather could belong to a night bird, maybe an owl or an eagle owl. He tells them that these birds hunt at night and sometimes leave feathers behind.

Félix, after looking at the feather, said:
« We must follow the tracks. »

After saying goodbye to Hector the Hedgehog, Félix and Brindille continue on their way across the meadow. The sun's rays start to fade, casting long and mysterious shadows. As they look for clues to follow, their eyes spot a Hawk soaring(6) majestically(7) above the meadow. Curious about the hawk's presence, they wonder why it is flying so high. A new trail to follow, and maybe the next adventure holds even more surprises and fascinating discoveries.
