📝 Quick summary of key information

How do we know that spring has arrived in the mountains?

Spring in the mountains is a magical season. The snow melts away, showing green landscapes. Wildflowers, like edelweiss, bloom, coloring the slopes with white, yellow, and purple. Migratory birds return, singing happily in the sky.

Animals know that spring has arrived. Bears come out of their hibernation, hungry and ready to explore. Ground squirrels wake up from their long sleep, curious to see the changes. Ibex come down from the mountains, attracted by the new sprouts.

Plants that bloom in the spring are very useful. They attract insects, like bees and butterflies, which are a food source for birds. Flowers also provide pollen and nectar, which are essential for the survival of many small animals.

With the arrival of spring, trees and plants change. Buds turn into green leaves, and some trees bloom, offering a wonderful sight. Longer days let animals find more food, making it easier for them to survive.

The Spring Awakening

How do we know that spring has arrived in the mountains?

The first signs of spring

After a long period of rest in their cozy dens(1), Lupo the young wolf and Mila the marmot finally woke up(2) with the fresh scent of spring. The snow is melting, the rivers are flowing stronger, and the mountain is coming back to life. While playing near Cloud Peak, they were happily found by their friends who are used to the rocky heights(3), like the eagles and the ibex(4). That's when they discover big strange footprints in the melting snow... Who could have left them?

Lupo, intrigued, says:
« Look, Mila, these tracks are very big. »

Mila, curious, says:
« Yes, they are weird. Who could have left them? »

Lupo, curious about the tracks, suggests:
« Let's see where they lead. »

After walking for a while, they find a clearing(5). The flowers are starting to bloom. The bees are already buzzing around(6) the first flowers, and the birds are singing happily.

Lupo, amazed, says:
« Mila, this is wonderful! »

Mila, amazed, says:
« Yes, it is beautiful. The flowers are pretty. The birds are singing. »

While exploring, Lupo and Mila find a field full of flowers, confirming that spring has really arrived. They remember the big strange footprints they saw earlier and decide to follow them to find out more.

The discovery of mysterious footprints

Lupo and Mila keep following the footprints. They are amazed by the beauty of nature waking up around them.

Lupo, amazed, says:
« Mila, look at these flowers! They are wonderful. »

Mila, looking up at the flowers, says:
« Yes, and the bees are already working. They are buzzing around the flowers. »

Lupo, while watching the bees, says:
« That's right. They are very busy. »

Mila, amazed, says:
« And the birds are singing. It's so happy here. »

Lupo and Mila are curious about the big strange footprints they find near Cloud Peak. They decide to follow the trail to a flowery clearing. That's where they meet a big deer who is peacefully eating(7). The deer lifts its head and looks at the two friends with curiosity. Lupo and Mila then realize that the big footprints belong to the deer. They are impressed by the size of the animal and the beauty of its antlers. After a moment of observation, the deer goes back to its meal, leaving Lupo and Mila to admire the nature waking up around them. The two friends understand that spring is a time of renewal and life for all the animals in the mountain. On their way home, Lupo and Mila promise to come back often to watch the changes in the mountain through the seasons. They now know that each season brings its own wonders and its own challenges. Next time, maybe they will discover other secrets hidden in the mysterious mountains.
