📝 Quick summary of key information

What are the big horns of ibexes for?

The ibex is a strong animal that lives in the mountains. It is known for its big, curved horns. These horns are very useful for defending against predators.

Ibexes use their horns to fight with each other, especially during the mating season. They give strong headbutts to impress their rivals. These fights can look impressive, but they are often not serious.

Ibexes often live in groups called herds. They like to stay together to protect each other and find food. The adults watch over the young ones and help them explore their environment.

Chamois mostly eat plants and grass that they find in the mountains. They climb skillfully on the rocks to reach the best pastures. Their food is varied and adapted to their mountain home.

What are the big horns of ibexes for?

Meeting Hector

After watching Sylvain the Chamois jump from rock to rock with amazing agility(1), Lupo and Mila understand why chamois are such good climbers. By following his graceful(2) movements, they realize that these animals master the mountain perfectly thanks to their sword-shaped hooves. Intrigued by this discovery, Lupo and Mila decide to continue their mountain exploration. They climb even higher, where the clouds brush against the snowy peaks. That's when they spot a large figure on a rock. It's Hector the Ibex, whose huge(3) horns shine in the sun.

Lupo, amazed, says:
« Hector, your horns are so big! »

Mila, admiringly, adds:
« Yes, and you climb so well! »

Hector the Ibex, curious, explains: « My horns protect me from dangers. They also help me fight for the best grazing(4) areas. »

Not long after, Hector the Ibex tells them a fascinating(5) story. He speaks of an old, forgotten path. This path leads to a mysterious(6) cave. Lupo and Mila listen carefully. They wonder what they will discover.

Lupo, excited, shouts:
« We want to see the cave! »

Mila, excited, says:
« Yes, show us the way! »

Hector the Ibex, with a determined look, says:
« Follow me. I know the way. »

Hector the Ibex tells them about an old, forgotten path leading to a mysterious cave... Are they on the right track?

The Adventure in the Mysterious Cave

Lupo and Mila follow Hector the Ibex. The path is hard. They climb high in the mountain. The rocks are sharp. There are few trees.

Lupo, out of breath, says:
« It's tough, but we can do it! »

Mila, out of breath, says:
« We're almost there, look, we're almost at the top! »

Hector the Ibex, with an encouraging smile, announces:
« We are almost at the cave. »

After reaching the top, they finally find the entrance to the cave. It is hidden behind bushes. Hector the Ibex leads them inside. The walls are lit up with a thousand colors. The crystals sparkle in the light.

Lupo, amazed, shouts:
« It's wonderful! »

Mila, amazed, shouts:
« Look, colorful crystals on the walls! »

Hector the Ibex, curious about the paintings, then explains:
« These paintings tell the story of the ancestors of this region. »

Dazzled by the reflection of Hector the Ibex's horns at the top of the snowy mountain, the young friends feel filled with curiosity. Altan, the golden eagle, is spotted flying in the sky, his shadow cast on the ridge inviting them to discover more. Mila, the brown-furred marmot with chubby cheeks, watches carefully, while Lupo, the gray wolf pup with golden eyes, intrigued, suggests taking a moment to admire the view. The discovery of the glowing crystals and cave paintings(7) was an incredible adventure for Lupo and Mila. They learned the importance of the ibex's horns and discovered hidden treasures in the mountain. As they head back down, they are promised to return to explore other mountain secrets. Hector, proud of his young friends, encourages them to continue their adventures and always stay curious. As they start the journey back, they ask Hector what other surprises await them in the mysterious mountains. Maybe one day they will discover the secrets of the stars that Mila loves to watch and the echoes in the valleys. One thing is for sure, their curiosity and courage will always take them further in their adventures.
