How does the variable hare survive the changing seasons?
The Meeting with Noa
After discovering with Iris the Stoat (1) how she hides thanks to her changing fur (2), Lupo and Mila continue their adventure. They learn that stoats change color to blend into their surroundings (3), turning from white in winter to brown in spring. As they follow the stream, they head towards new discoveries, always amazed by nature. Lupo, with his gray fur with golden highlights, and Mila, with her chubby cheeks and brown fur, walk carefully (4). Suddenly, a galloping sound echoes through the valley. Lupo stops short. Mila, curious, listens closely. The sound of a hare's paws jumping on the rocks is recognized. Intrigued, they decide to follow the sound.
Lupo, excited, shouts:
« Look Mila, a squirrel! »
Mila, with her eyes wide open, exclaims:
« Look, it's a hare! He runs really fast! »
Not long after, they see a hare. Its fur changes color and pattern depending on its surroundings. It's Noa the Variable Hare. He often wears a small red scarf around his neck, which never changes color.
Noa the Variable Hare, with a mischievous smile, says:
« Hello Lupo and Mila! »
Lupo, curious, asks:
« Hello Noa the Variable Hare! What are you doing here? »
Mila, curious, asks:
« You still have white on your fur, why? »
Noa the Variable Hare explains:
« I change color with the seasons. In summer, I am brown. In winter, I am white. This way, I hide well. »
Noa the Variable Hare shows them a last footprint left in the mud near the lake. It matches the hidden entrance to an old tunnel under the mountain!
The Cave Adventure
Lupo and Mila follow Noa the Variable Hare with curiosity. They go down into the hidden passage. The light from their torches shines on the damp (5) walls. The air is cool and damp.
Lupo, looking around, says:
« It's dark here. »
Mila, eyes sparkling, whispers then:
« Yes, but it's exciting. »
Noa the Variable Hare, curious, says:
« Look, pictures on the walls. »
The drawings show animals and scenes from the mountain. Noa the Variable Hare explains that these drawings tell old stories. They talk about the lives of animals and the changing seasons.
Lupo, curious, asks:
« Why does your fur change? »
Noa the Variable Hare explains:
« To hide from predators. In winter, I am white like the snow. In summer, I am brown like the rocks. »
Mila, after watching Noa the Variable Hare, says:
« That's clever. You're hard to see. »
With a hidden passage entrance found, Lupo, Mila, and Noa the Variable Hare stand at the start (6) of new adventures. Beyond the mountains, mysteries (7) wait to be revealed. The friends know that teamwork and respect for nature will be their best guides. What secrets hide deep in the mountain? Maybe they will discover even deeper caves, brighter crystals, or even legendary animals. One thing is for sure: their adventure is just beginning, and every discovery brings them closer to the mysteries of the Mysterious Mountains.
