Marius the Kingfisher and the Last Dive

Why does the kingfisher dive so quickly into the water?

Marius' Discovery

After following the trail of the mysterious swimmer and meeting Sylvaine the Snake, gliding gracefully between the reeds, Timon and Lila learn that the snake is an excellent swimmer thanks to her wavy(1) body and smooth skin, which help her cut through(2) the water effortlessly. They also discover that the snake dances with the waves(3), letting the current carry her. Timon and Lila, always curious, decide to continue their exploration and head towards the Singing River, where another surprise awaits them.

Timon, very excited, shouts:
« Look, Lila, up there! Marius the Kingfisher is perched on a branch above the water! »

Lila, curious, says:
« You're right, Timon! Let's take a closer look. What is he doing up there? »

Timon, curious, asks:
« But what is he doing up there? »

Lila, after squinting her eyes to see better, says:
« It's Marius the Kingfisher. »

Timon, curious, wonders:
« But why is he still? »

Lila, curious, says:
« Marius the Kingfisher watches the water. He is looking for fish. »

Marius the Kingfisher, excited, tells them: « I saw a cave underwater. There are shiny(4) fish inside. »

Near the Singing River, Timon and Lila look up and see Marius the Kingfisher perched on a branch above the water. The two friends are amazed by what they hear. Marius tells them that he has discovered an underwater cave filled with sparkling fish. The marsh still hides many wonders!

The Mysterious Dive

Timon and Lila listen carefully. Marius the Kingfisher tells them about the shiny fish. They glow like stars under the water.

Timon, with his eyes wide open, asks:
« How do these fish shine? »

Marius the Kingfisher, with a mischievous smile, starts to explain: « The fish have special scales(5). They reflect the sunlight. »

Lila, curious, asks:
« Why do these fish shine? »

Marius the Kingfisher, with his sharp eyes, explains: « These fish glow to avoid predators(6). They make themselves more visible to attract prey or to show their presence. »

Timon, curious, asks:
« How do you dive so fast? »

Marius the Kingfisher, with a cheeky smile, explains: « My legs are short and strong(7). They help me dive quickly. »

But as Timon and Lila listened to Marius the Kingfisher explain how he dove so quickly, a golden glow appeared in the distance. Curious, the two friends looked up to see a new creature, a marsh hedgehog, coming towards them. This little one brought amazing news, announcing another adventure that was about to begin...
