📝 Quick summary of key information

Why does Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle dig tunnels?

The rhino beetle is a tiny nature engineer. It digs tunnels in the ground to live in and raise its babies. These tunnels are like underground homes, safe from the dangers on the surface.

To dig, the beetle uses its strong legs and mandibles, which are like tiny shovels and scissors. It pushes the dirt aside to make tunnels that are straight and strong.

You often find the rhino beetle in soft soil that is rich in organic matter, like forests and meadows. It likes places where it can easily dig and find food.

The rhino beetle eats rotting plant material. It helps recycle dead leaves and branches, which is good for the ecosystem. The tunnels it digs aerate the soil, helping plants grow better.

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle and the Secret Room

Why does the rhinoceros beetle dig tunnels?

The Discovery of Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle's Tunnel

After listening to Gaspard the Cricket and his magic song, Milo the mole and Noa the hedgehog let themselves be guided by the nighttime melodies. The crickets, these little night musicians, show them the way through the dark tunnels(1), lit up by their harmonious songs. Milo, with her strong(2) paws, digs with enthusiasm, while Noa, always cautious, rolls into a ball at every suspicious noise. Suddenly, they spot a glow in the distance. Intrigued, they decide to follow this mysterious(3) light, which leads them straight to a big tunnel dug by Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle.

Milo, amazed, shouts:
« Look, Noa, this tunnel is huge! »

Noa, curious, asks:
« Yes, Milo. Who dug it? »

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle, in a deep and confident voice, said to them:
« It's me, Ruben. I dig these tunnels to lay my eggs. »

Milo, curious, asks:
« Why dig tunnels? »

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle explains: « To protect my eggs and my larvae. They eat rotting(4) wood. »

Noa, curious, asks:
« And where are your larvae? »

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle, with a mysterious look, says:
« Follow me, I will show you. There are special rooms. »

Following Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle, Milo and Noa enter a big tunnel. As they walk, they find an old, forgotten passage. On a wall, a carved symbol catches their eye... Another clue to find the treasure!

The Mystery Symbol Riddle

Milo and Noa look closely at the carved symbol. They try to figure out what it means. Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle starts digging around the symbol.

Milo, curious, asks:
« What are you doing, Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle? »

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle, with a determined look in his eyes, then explains:
« I am looking for clues. Maybe a secret door. »

Noa, after thinking for a moment, says:
« That's a good idea. Help us dig. »

Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle then says:
« With pleasure. Together, we find it faster. »

After a few minutes, they find a small opening. Ruben pushes the dirt with his horns. A secret room appears.

As Milo, Noa, and Ruben the Rhinoceros Beetle look at the mysterious symbol, they hear a familiar buzzing sound. Curious, they follow the noise and discover a new, even deeper gallery. Ruben, with his explorer's(5) instinct, decides to explore further to find out what this new gallery hides. Milo, who is curious and clever, and Noa, who is careful, follow him without hesitation. Together, they start a new adventure, ready to uncover the secrets hidden in the underground(6) kingdom. They know that every tunnel, every chamber, and every symbol carved on a wall holds a story and a mystery to solve. With determination and bravery, they continue their journey, ready to protect and preserve this magical and mysterious world.
