📝 Quick summary of key information
Why is the water warmer near the sun at the equator?
The equator is an imaginary line that goes around the middle of the Earth. Imagine a belt around the Earth, that's the equator! It divides the Earth into two equal parts: the North and the South.
At the equator, the sun shines very brightly all year round. This strong heat warms the ocean water. The closer you get to the equator, the warmer the water is. It's like the water is taking a sunbath!
When water gets warm, it moves towards the poles and creates currents. These warm currents travel far, like invisible rivers under the sea. They carry heat around the Earth, changing the weather.
Understanding these water movements is very important. They help us predict the weather and protect our planet. Knowing where heat goes helps us understand climate change and take care of our beautiful Earth.

The Warmth of the Equatorial Sea
Why is the water warmer near the sun at the equator?
The Sea of the Equators
After watching the acrobatic (1) waves at the Wave Circus, Marina, a little fish with blue ocean scales and a shiny dorsal fin like a sunbeam, and Thalasso, a young, wise, and dreamy fish with silvery scales that sparkle like stars, and a fin shaped like a palm leaf, are amazed by the magic of the ocean. They saw the waves dance and cross with perfect grace. That's when they decide to continue their exploration towards the mysteries of the ocean currents, where water travels and influences the climate. Soon after, they find themselves in the Equator (2) Sea, a warm and sparkling stretch of water under the bright sun.
Marina, amazed, says:
« What a wonderful place! »
Thalasso, after brushing the surface of the water, says:
« It's warm here! »
Marina, amazed, says:
« Yes, the water is warm and shiny. »
They swim among colorful fish and vibrant (3) corals. They are amazed by the life that buzzes around them. A playful dolphin joins them. It is Dolphin Solis.
Dolphin Solis, curious, asks:
« Hello! Do you like this place? »
A playful dolphin shows them a fire pearl, a symbol of the solar energy that brings life to the surface (4) currents.
The Energy of the Currents
The fire pearl is shown to Marina and Thalasso by Dolphin Solis. He explains to them that this pearl symbolizes (5) the solar energy that animates the surface currents.
Marina, curious, asks:
« What is this pearl? »
Dolphin Solis, with a warm smile, explains:
« It is a fire pearl. It shows the sun's energy. »
Thalasso, curious, asks:
« How does the sun warm the water? »
Dolphin Solis, with a warm smile, explains:
« The sun warms the water at the equator. The warm water moves towards the poles with surface currents. »
Marina, curious about the warm water, asks:
« Why is the water warmer at the surface? »
Dolphin Solis, curious, explains:
« The sun is stronger at the equator. It warms the water a lot. »
Under a bright sky, Marina and Thalasso discover a warm and shiny sea where the sun's rays warm the water. Curious about Dolphin Solis's explanations, they wonder how this solar energy affects the ocean currents. They decide to follow the surface currents, guided by the fire pearl that the dolphin showed them. The currents lead them to areas where the water is even warmer and brighter, revealing hidden mysteries from the depths. They are amazed by the glowing (6) creatures and secrets buried for millennia. Their adventure continues, and they are eager to find out what the ocean currents have in store for them.
