📝 Quick summary of key information

How does the sun make the hottest winds?

The sun, that big, bright star, warms the desert's surface. Its rays, like little warm hands, heat the ground. The more the sun shines, the warmer the ground gets.

When the air above the ground gets warm, it becomes lighter and goes up to the sky. It's like the warm air wants to escape to the clouds. This warm air then creates strong winds.

These winds, called hot winds, can carry sand and other tiny bits. They lift up clouds of dust that dance in the sky. Sometimes, they can even make beautiful sand dunes.

Warm winds also affect the weather around the desert. They can bring heat to other places and change the landscapes. They are like artists that shape the desert with their strong breezes.

The Hot Winds Desert

How does the sun create the hottest winds?

The Discovery of the Golden Desert

After exploring the Valley of Air Currents, where the winds told stories by blowing happily, Zéphir and Brisa, a clever and adventurous wind and a light breeze, fly through different landscapes. They discover together that winds are secret messengers of nature, each with its own voice and purpose. One day, as they venture above a golden desert, they feel intense heat and new energy. Zéphir, with his spiral scarf and puffed cheeks, is intrigued. Brisa, with her translucent ribbons floating around her, is fascinated by the movements of the hot air. Together, they decide to find out how the sun turns(1) the desert into a burning furnace.

Zéphir, feeling the intense heat, exclaims:
« It's hot here! »

Brisa, fascinated, explains: « Look, Zéphir, the sand whirlwinds that form because of the heat. The sun heats the ground and the air above becomes lighter, creating upward(2) currents. It's amazing to see how the heat turns the air into visible movements! »

Zéphir, curious about the movements of the air, says:
« Wow, I want to see if I can create my own whirlwinds! Look, Brisa, I'm going to watch how the heat changes the air to see what happens. »

After watching the whirlwinds, Zéphir has fun lifting grains of sand. He creates tiny little cyclones(3). Brisa watches the clouds forming above the desert. She notices that the roots of the cacti are very deep.

Brisa, fascinated by nature, explains:
« Have you noticed that the roots of cacti are very deep? That's because they find water under the sand. It's amazing how nature adapts to survive in such difficult conditions! »

Zéphir, amazed, says: « This(4) is amazing! »

Not long after, Brisa and Zéphir understand that the desert is a unique ecosystem(5). Every part, from the sand to the plants, plays a crucial role. Brisa watches how the heat changes the air, and together they discover the sun's power over the winds. They decide to continue their exploration to learn more.

The Power of the Sun

Zéphir and Brisa continue their journey. They want to learn more about the hot desert winds. They move towards a sand dune.

Brisa, curious, says:
« Look, Zéphir, the sand is moving. »

Zéphir, after watching the phenomenon, said:
« It is the heat of the sun. »

Brisa, looking at the ground, says:
« The sand gets very hot. »

Zéphir, curious, then adds:
« Yes, and the air goes up. »

Zéphir and Brisa watch the warm air rising. They learn that this makes updrafts, which can create strong winds as they cool down. Curious, they decide to follow these currents to see where they go.

After exploring the mysteries of the desert's hot winds, Zéphir, a clever and adventurous wind, and Brisa, a gentle and mischievous wind, head towards icy peaks. They will discover how the mountains transform their breath into powerful gusts(6). But before leaving, they meet South Wind, a playful and curious spirit who lives in the warm air currents. South Wind tells them fascinating stories about the wonders of nature and invites them to explore the swirling(7) mountains. Zéphir and Brisa, with their thirst for adventure, immediately accept. Together, they fly towards the snowy peaks, ready to discover new secrets and have new adventures.
