The Library Mysteries
After listening to Daddy John's stories about spies and superheroes (1), Alex and Nika remember tales of cowboys (2) and Indians (3). But this time, a different (4) adventure awaits them. They decide to explore their grandfather's library to find more mysteries. While searching, they find a big book with a world map in two colors: red and blue. Inside, they discover a hidden letter from a cousin in Berlin (5) (6) talking about the Wall.
Alex, eyes shining, says:
« Look, Nika, a map of the world. »
Nika, curious, says:
« Yes, and a letter too. »
Alex, curious, asks:
« Who wrote it? »
Nika, eyes sparkling with curiosity, whispers:
« A cousin from Berlin. »
Alex, curious, asks:
« What does it say? »
Nika, curious, starts to read out loud:
« It talks about the Wall. There are two sides. »
Soon after, Alex and Nika look at each other, excited. They decide to share their findings with their parents. They run to the kitchen.
The Discovery of the Berlin Wall
Alex and Nika run into the kitchen. They find Mum Elena cooking. Daddy John is reading the newspaper.
Alex, eyes shining with excitement, says:
« Mum, look what we found. »
Nika, eyes sparkling, says:
« It's a letter from a cousin in Berlin. »
Mum Elena, curious, asks:
« A cousin from Berlin? »
Nika, her eyes sparkling, says:
« Yes, it talks about the Wall. »
Daddy John, curious, asks:
« The Berlin Wall? »
After finding the mysterious letter, Alex and Nika are in the kitchen. They will discover how the kitchen can bring two different cultures together. In the kitchen, Nika makes pierogis (7) with Mum Elena, while Alex makes pancakes with Daddy John. It smells so good, but the recipes are different! The kids laugh as they mix the ingredients, creating a new dish that symbolizes the union of their two worlds. The house is filled with laughter and yummy smells. They realize that, even with differences, they can always find ways to come together. Their next adventure is waiting: they will build a model of the Berlin Wall in the garden to better understand its historical importance.
