Tastes from Two Worlds

After finding a two-colored world map at their grandpa's house, it is told that Alex and Nika learn that the world was divided. They see books and photos that tell the story of the two blocks. A black and white cat watches them curiously from the windowsill, as if it wants to know more about that past world. Curious‎ (1) about their parents' talks about their own food‎ (2) traditions‎ (3), the twins decide to go to the kitchen to learn more about their parents' traditions.

Nika, with sparkling eyes, walks up to her mum and says:
« Mum, I want to make pirojkis with you. »

Mum Elena, with a warm smile, says:
« Okay, Nika. Put on your apron. We are going to start. »

Alex, curious about his parents' talk, goes to his dad and says:
« Daddy John, I want to make pancakes with you. »

Mum Elena, with a smile, starts to explain:
« Nika, you mix the meat with the spices. Then, you add the flour and the water. »

Meanwhile, Alex and Daddy John are in the kitchen. They are mixing the ingredients for the pancakes. The batter is ready. Daddy John is cooking the pancakes in a pan. It smells so good!

Around the table, they taste each other's recipe. In a cookie box, they find a little recipe book written‎ (4) in two languages: a family treasure.

Alex and Nika find out that the notebook has recipes from their grandparents. Some pages are in Russian, others in English. They read the names of the dishes and the ingredients.
