📝 Quick summary of key information
How did Roman soldiers get ready for battles?
The soldiers practiced every day with their weapons, like swords and spears. They walked in tight formation to be ready to fight together. They also practiced fast marching, carrying heavy gear, to be ready to move quickly and far.
Rules were very important for Roman soldiers. They had to follow strict rules and listen to their leaders without talking back. This helped them stay together and win almost all their battles.
Wherever they went, the soldiers built strong and well-organized camps. These camps were like small temporary towns, with walls for protection and tents to sleep in. They were very important for resting and getting ready for the next battles.
The Roman army was so powerful and feared because of its discipline, organization, and battle strategies. The legionnaires were well-trained and always ready to defend their empire. Their ability to build camps quickly and to march for long distances in tight formation made them a force to be reckoned with.

In the Heart of the Legion Camp
How did Roman soldiers prepare for battles?
The Training of the Legionaries
After exploring the mysteries of the Colosseum, stories of gladiators, roaring lions, and epic battles were told. Traces of the fights and whispers of past ghosts were seen. The cages of the fierce beasts (1), symbols of bravery and fear, were observed. The Colosseum, stage of these great deeds, revealed secrets buried for centuries. Today, the excitement of discovering how Roman soldiers prepared for battles was felt. The legionnaires' camp, where Centurion (2) Brutus waits, was reached.
Maximus, eyes shining with admiration, exclaims:
« Look, Livia, the legionnaires are training. They are so strong. »
Livia, watching the soldiers, says:
« Yes, they walk in a line. They build camps everywhere. »
Maximus, eyes shining with admiration, whispers:
« I want to be like them. I want to be brave and disciplined. »
Maximus watches the soldiers with admiration. He loves how the tents are in neat rows and how the exercises are so strict. The legionnaires keep doing the same moves over and over. Their shields and swords shine in the sun. Livia notices a shield with the same symbol she saw at the Forum.
Livia, after noticing the shield, says:
« Maximus, I am going to follow the soldiers. I want to know more. »
Maximus, worried, says:
« Be careful, Livia. I am going to learn how to use a wooden sword. »
Maximus' excitement is noticed by Centurion Brutus, who gives him valuable advice. Maximus listens carefully, determined to become a respected legionnaire one day. Meanwhile, Livia, intrigued by the shield decorated with the same symbol she saw at the Forum, decides to follow the soldiers. She finds a hidden scroll (3) under a stone and quickly slips it into her belt, eager to read it later. This scroll might confirm a secret link between all these places.
Discipline and Unity
Maximus keeps listening carefully to Centurion Brutus' advice, training with unwavering determination to one day become a respected legionnaire. Meanwhile, Livia, still intrigued by the mysterious symbol, watches the soldiers with special attention. She notices a scroll hidden under a stone, away from prying eyes. Quickly, she slips it into her belt, eager to find out what it contains and to confirm the secret connection between all these places. Maximus, on the other hand, can't help but wonder what Livia has found and quietly approaches to help her solve this new mystery.
Maximus, full of energy, says:
« Centurion Brutus, I want to be a good soldier. I am ready to train hard to become a respected legionnaire, like you. I saw Livia find something interesting, and I want to help her solve this mystery. Maybe this will help us all understand this secret link between all these places. »
Centurion Brutus, with a strong and commanding voice, says:
« Maximus, you must be disciplined. You must learn to fight well. »
Maximus, determined, says:
« Yes, Centurion Brutus. I will practice every day. »
Centurion Brutus, with a strong and commanding voice, orders:
« Maximus, find the lost item. It is important for our camp. »
Maximus, determined, says:
« I will find the object. I will find it quickly. »
After exploring the mysteries of the legionnaires' camp, the two children head towards the luxurious villa of Senator (4) Aurelius, hoping to find the lost object mentioned by Centurion Brutus. Guided by a hidden key, Maximus and Livia discover ancient frescoes (5), sparkling mosaics (6), and marble sculptures. Intrigued, they find a secret passage that seems to hide forgotten treasures and secrets. A stray cat, watching them, leads them to a strange passage. Maximus and Livia, curious and determined, decide to follow the cat, ready to discover new mysteries. They know that each adventure brings them closer to solving the great mystery of Rome. Their next step might take them to even more fascinating places, where other secrets await. They can't wait to find out what the future holds for them.
