📝 Quick summary of key information
Where did the Romans hide their most precious knowledge?
The Romans had a trick to protect their precious knowledge: they hid it in secret libraries. These mysterious places were hidden to keep important writings from falling into the wrong hands.
In these libraries, you could find knowledge about history, science, and myths. The Romans loved to share their stories and discoveries, but they also wanted to keep them safe.
The Romans used parchments to write their knowledge. A parchment is a scroll made of papyrus or leather. It was like big papers on which they wrote with goose feathers.
So, the Romans kept their knowledge safe with these hidden libraries and their scrolls. It's like having a treasure of knowledge well hidden!

Where did the Romans hide their most precious knowledge?
The Discovery of the Trapdoor
After exploring the wonderful villa of Senator Aurelius, Maximus and Livia find beautiful paintings and a mysterious passage. A little gray mouse watches them, as if it already knows the hidden secrets. The two children, curious, follow another clue (1), that of a trapdoor hidden under an old altar. Maximus, with his boundless energy, lifts the trapdoor while Livia, curious, leans in to look at the darkness. A smell of dust and old parchment (2) comes from the trapdoor, sparking their curiosity.
Maximus, eyes shining with excitement, shouts:
« Livia, look! A secret trapdoor! »
Livia, excited by the discovery, shouts:
« Yes, Maximus! Let's go down and see what's down there. »
Maximus, with determination, says:
« Wait, I will go down first. You look up. »
After going down the steps, Maximus finds a room full of dusty scrolls. Livia, with her endless (3) curiosity, looks at each scroll. The scrolls are rolls of papyrus or leather, used to write the knowledge (4) of ancient (5) times. They find maps, drawings, and old texts that tell the story of Rome and its well-kept secrets.
Livia, after looking at the scrolls, says:
« Livia, look at these symbols! I have seen them somewhere else. »
Maximus, after looking at the symbols, says:
« Yes, Livia. These symbols are clues. They lead to a hidden treasure. »
They find an old map with symbols they have seen in other places: knowledge is the key to the mystery. They will now try to solve the riddle (6).
The Scrolls and the Map
Maximus and Livia look at the map. They search for clues about places to visit. They have seen some symbols at the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.
Livia, excited, says:
« Maximus, look! This symbol looks like the one from the Colosseum. »
Maximus, convinced, says:
« Yes, Livia. Let's go to the Colosseum. Maybe we'll find a clue there. »
Soon after, they arrive at the Colosseum. The stands are empty, but the arenas are full of memories. Maximus and Livia look for clues.
Livia, excited, shouts: « Maximus, I found something! A symbol carved on a stone (7). »
Maximus, excited, shouts:
« Wow! It's a clue. Let's keep going on our quest. »
With the map in hand, Maximus and Livia head to a peaceful garden filled with melodious birds and majestic statues. When they find a stone dedicated to Diana, decorated with familiar symbols, they understand that Roman gardens hide secrets. A peacock, a symbol of beauty and immortality, guides them to a new adventure. They realize that the symbols on the map and the stone are connected, and that the Roman gardens tell a mysterious story. The children, with their adventurous spirit, promise to discover all the secrets of Rome and to protect the knowledge of the ancient Romans. They know that every place they visit hides a mystery and that they must be ready to discover it. Maximus and Livia, with their courage and curiosity, prepare for their next adventure, ready to discover new secrets and to protect Rome's treasures.
