📝 Quick summary of key information

What are the voices saying on the big square?

A town square is a big open space where people can gather. It's like a huge living room where everyone is welcome. People go there to play, walk, or just chat. It's a place where everyone can feel free to talk and listen to each other.

In the big square, people talk to share their ideas and discuss important topics. Sometimes, they want to talk about things that make them happy, like a new park or a party. Other times, they talk about problems they would like to solve, like making the city cleaner or safer.

A speech is a long message that someone gives to talk to a big group of people. It's like a story you tell, but with important ideas. Speeches are important because they help many voices be heard at the same time.

Words are powerful because they let people share their voices and ask for changes. Words can inspire, comfort, and even change the world. For example, the Place de la Concorde in Paris is a big, famous square where people often gather to talk and share their ideas.

The Square of Ideas

What are the voices saying that rise up on the big square?

The Square of Ideas

After exploring the mysteries(1) of the Good Ideas Factory, Lucien and Manon's fascination with whispers(2) of freedom leads them to the Square of Ideas. Along the way, the bustling streets are filled with echoes(3) of discussions about freedom and equality. Every corner seems to resonate with the words of the revolutionaries. The children discover that these discussions are not just rumors, but a real flame burning in the heart of every Parisian.

Not long after, they arrive at the Place of Ideas. Lucien climbs onto a wooden crate. He wants to read an important text. Manon listens to a speaker talking about the Declaration of Rights. The people around them are lit by the sunlight and the glow of lanterns. An old man with a long white beard and messy(4) hair, wearing round glasses and a dark green suit with golden buttons, approaches them. He always has a book in his hand and a kind smile on his face.

Lucien, turning to Manon, says:
« Manon, listen carefully. Human rights are very important. »

Manon, listening carefully, says:
« Yes, Lucien. I'm writing it all down in my notebook. »

Lucien, after taking a big breath, says:
« People should be free and equal. »

Manon, after looking at the faces around her, says:
« I see. People's faces change when they talk about freedom. »

An old man with a long white beard and round glasses comes up to them. He gives them a small book filled with sayings(5) about freedom: a first spark in their commitment.

Words as a Weapon

The Old Reader smiles at them. He tells them that these words are powerful. They must share them with everyone.

Lucien, after looking through a few pages of the book, says:
« Manon, we need to learn even more. »

Manon, with a determined smile, says:
« Yes, Lucien. Let's go to the Factory of Good Ideas. »

Lucien and Manon start their journey. They walk fast. They meet children who are playing. Adults talk about new laws. They feel inspired.

Lucien, determined, speaks to Manon:
« Manon, we must protect freedom and equality. »

Manon, with a determined look, says:
« Yes, Lucien. We know what to do. »

After listening to inspiring speeches at the Place of Ideas, Lucien and Manon decide to find out how ideas can spread. Following the cobblestone alleys, they arrive at a wooden door where a black cat greets them with a curious meow. Inside, Lucien discovers the neighborhood print shop(6), filled with ink, metal letters, and rolls of paper. He helps to print a poster. Meanwhile, Manon watches the printing mechanisms(7), fascinated by how words come to life on the paper. They know this adventure is just beginning and that they have much more to learn. Next time, they might discover the hidden secrets in the Secret Passages of Paris, where messages are delivered in secret. Lucien and Manon look at each other, excited about the new adventure that awaits them.
