📝 Quick summary of key information
Why are the grown-ups talking near the trees?
The Revolution is a time when people come together to change important things. It's like a big talk where everyone can share their ideas to make the world better. It's important because it lets everyone have a voice.
Being a citizen means being part of a big family called society. Citizens have rights and responsibilities. They can vote, join discussions, and help make decisions for their town or country. It's like being an active member of a team.
People often talk near trees because it's a nice and natural place. Trees give shade and a peaceful setting to think and talk. They are also a symbol of growth and life, which inspires positive and helpful ideas.
Kids can also join in because they have precious ideas. They can learn to listen to others, to express their thoughts, and to get involved in making a fairer world. By talking together, kids and adults can find creative and fair solutions.

The Citizens' Garden
Why are the grown-ups talking around the trees?
The Discovery of the Citizens' Garden
After slipping a paper into a bread basket, Lucien and Manon escape through the kitchens of a theater. They have learned that ideas can be passed (1) secretly. A black cat follows them through the narrow alleys (2), guiding them to a new adventure. They arrive at the Citizen's Garden, a green space where adults often gather to talk. Lucien and Manon, curious, decide to get closer to listen to what is being said.
Manon, curious, says:
« Look, Lucien, the grown-ups are talking by the trees. »
Lucien, after listening carefully, says:
« Yes, they are talking about important things. »
Manon, curious, asks:
« What things? »
Lucien, eyes shining, repeats out loud:
« Freedom, equality, and brotherhood. »
Manon, curious, asks:
« But what is it exactly? »
Lucien, after listening carefully to the adults, says:
« That's what I read in the newspapers. We'll talk about it later. »
A woman gives them a tricolor ribbon. They tie it together and promise (3) to defend the ideas they understand a little more each day. Soon after, a big discussion (4) starts far away.
The Pledge of Young Citizens
Lucien walks closer to the discussion. He hears passionate voices. The adults talk about how important education (5) is for everyone. Lucien listens carefully. Meanwhile, Manon watches the scene with her sparkling eyes, noting everything down in her secret notebook.
Lucien, curious about the discussion, asks:
« Why is learning so important? »
Manon, curious, asks:
« Lucien, you are right, why is it so important? »
A man explains that education helps everyone understand their rights and duties. He talks about the need for fair laws for all. Manon takes notes.
Lucien, curious about the discussion, asks:
« What about the laws? »
Manon, after thinking for a moment, says:
« Yes, laws are important. »
After promising to defend their new ideas, Lucien and Manon head towards an old mill turned into a school. Inside, children are talking excitedly, writing slogans, and drawing pictures of the Republic. A gray cat, perched on a pile of books, watches the children carefully, curious to see how one can learn to be free. Inspired by their experience in the Citizen's Garden, Lucien and Manon join the discussions and share their new knowledge. They discover that education is the key to a better future and decide to keep learning and sharing their ideas. Their adventure leads them to new discoveries and new friendships, preparing them for the challenges ahead.
