📝 Quick summary of key information
What is happening behind the big golden gates of power?
The King's Palace was a big and beautiful building where the king lived. It was surrounded by wonderful gardens and tall gates. The king lived there with his family and servants, far from the daily life of people.
People lived far from the King's Palace because they had homes and fields to tend. They saw the king as a distant and powerful figure, often shown in statues and paintings.
The Revolution was a big movement where people came together to ask for more fairness and rights. They wanted the king to share power and for there to be more equality for everyone.
After the Revolution, many changes happened. Justice became fairer and power was shared among more people. People gained more rights and freedoms.

The Palace Mysteries
After leaving the mill filled (1) with the laughter and joyful shouts of children, Lucien and Manon step out with big ideas in their heads. In this old factory, they learned that freedom starts with words and drawings, but also with the friendship between a dog and a mouse, Cricri. They now know that freedom is a battle that is won together. Soon after, the two friends find themselves in front of the impressive gates of the King's Palace. The children are curious to discover what lies behind these majestic walls. Marcel, the silent servant (2), watches them from afar, ready to step in if needed.
Manon, after watching around, whispers to Lucien:
« Look, Lucien, there are many guards. »
Lucien, after watching the guards, says:
« Yes, they are watching the palace well. »
Manon, after watching the guards, whispers:
« I'm writing everything down in my secret notebook. »
Lucien, curious, whispers:
« I hear the whispers of a tired servant. »
After listening carefully, Lucien and Manon discover a map of the inner courtyard. Marcel, still silent, waves them to follow him to a quiet corner. He shows them a secret passage, known only to a few (3), that leads them inside the palace.
The children, excited and careful, follow Marcel, the silent servant through dark hallways and rooms filled with old tapestries (4). They find a map of the inner courtyard... and realize that real power is now in the streets.
The Revolution is Marching On
Lucien and Manon follow Marcel, the silent servant through dark halls and rooms filled with old tapestries. They find a map of the inner courtyard. They understand that real power is now in the streets.
Lucien, after looking at the map, whispers to Manon:
« Manon, the palace walls can't hold back the ideas of freedom. »
Manon, after watching the guards, says:
« Yes, ideas are moving in the streets. We must share what we have seen. »
Lucien, determined, says: « Let's go back to the Place of Ideas. The citizens (5) must know. »
Not long after, Lucien and Manon head to the Place of Ideas. Marcel, the silent servant, follows them quietly. The place is buzzing with passionate talks. The children share what they have seen and heard. The citizens listen carefully. The crowd starts to understand that true power is no longer in the king's hands, but in the hands of the people.
Lucien, convinced, says:
« The walls of the palace can't hold the ideas of freedom and equality. »
Manon, with determination, says:
« We must share our discoveries with everyone. »
The whispers of the crowd turn into powerful songs, and the flags wave in the wind. Lucien and Manon join the crowd moving towards the Bastille. Horses and dogs, sheepdogs and ponies, accompany the revolutionaries. They learn that the Bastille, a symbol of oppression (6), must fall. The children, with their new friends, get ready to experience a historic (7) moment. Marcel, always silent, watches them with pride. He knows that this day will mark a turning point in the history of Paris. The children, tired but happy, go home knowing they helped make a big change. They go to bed dreaming of the next adventure waiting for them, ready to discover new secrets and stand up for their ideas of freedom and equality.
