📝 Quick summary of key information
Why is it important to work together during an emergency?
An emergency is a dangerous situation that needs quick action. Working together is very important to handle these tough moments.
When there is an emergency, rescuers need to talk to each other well. Good talking helps share important information and work together.
Every member of a team has a special job. Some lead the others, some help the hurt, care for those in danger, or clear a path.
For example, during a fire, some rescuers guide people to the exit while others put out the fire and help the hurt people.

Why is it important to work together in an emergency?
The Rescue Mission
After bravely putting out the pretend (1) fire in the little house, Jun and Assoumata learned to use the water hose with precision. Captain Spark explained how firefighters, often with their rescue dogs like the Labrador Max, move quickly and safely to control (2) the flames. Now, a new adventure awaits them on the Heroes Course. They are getting ready for a special exercise. Their mission is to rescue a stuffed toy stuck under some blocks. Jun and Assoumata look at each other. They are ready to act.
Assoumata, in a clear and confident voice, says:
« Assoumata, you take care of coordinating the actions with the radio. I will check the situation. »
Jun, determined, says:
« Okay. I will squeeze under the blocks. »
Jun, with his agility, slips under the blocks. He looks carefully. Assoumata, on her side, uses her walkie-talkie (3) to talk to Jun. She listens carefully to Jun's information. They find out that the stuffed toy is stuck under a heavy block. Jun finds a leverage point to lift the block. Assoumata, on her side, uses pliers to free the stuffed toy. Together, they manage to free the stuffed toy in a few minutes.
Jun, after finding a good spot, says:
« Assoumata, I found a place to push. I will lift the block. »
Assoumata, focused, then says:
« Okay, Jun. I will use the claw to free the stuffed toy. »
After freeing the stuffed toy, Jun and Assoumata stand up and look around. That's when they find a small silver whistle with a star on it, a symbol of a team leader, in the fake (4) wall that fell down. This whistle seems to show that their mission is almost over.
The Surprise Discovery
Assoumata picks up the whistle and shows it to Jun. The two friends are curious (5). They wonder what this whistle could be.
Assoumata, curious, asks Jun:
« Jun, have you ever seen a whistle like this one? »
Jun, after looking at the whistle, says:
« No, never. It is very pretty. »
Captain Spark, curious, then explains: « This whistle is a symbol of a team leader. In the fire stations (6), team leaders use this whistle to coordinate actions. »
Captain Spark, with a reassuring smile, explains:
« They give clear orders. It's important to work together. »
Jun and Assoumata are proud of their discovery. They understand the importance of communication and teamwork (7) in a rescue team. They decide to keep the whistle as a souvenir of their successful mission.
As Jun and Assoumata finish their mission successfully, they don't know yet that their adventure is far from over. The silver whistle, a symbol of a team leader, is used by the children to practice whistling like real firefighters. They also find out that Captain Spark has a surprise for them. The whole fire station is celebrating to honor their progress. A medal and a firefighter cap are given to them. The children are delighted and promise to keep working together to save and protect.
