📝 Quick summary of key information

How do you know if the price of a product is fair?

The price of something is the amount of money you need to pay to buy it. For example, a toy or an ice cream. It's like a ticket that lets you play with it or enjoy eating it.

Shopkeepers set the price of a product by adding all the costs of making it. This includes the materials, the time spent making it, and the tools used. Then, they add a little bit more to make some money.

A good price is fair for the customer and helps the shopkeeper keep making things. For example, if a toy costs 5 euros, the shopkeeper must make sure this price covers their costs and leaves a little profit.

A fair price is a price that lets the customer buy without spending too much and lets the shopkeeper earn a little money to keep working. It's like a balance, where everyone is happy.

The Right Price Calculation

How do you know if the price of a product is right?

Madame Pitch's Challenge

With lots of imagination, Mila and Samy turned a simple idea into an irresistible(1) poster. Using their creativity, they caught the attention of customers with a little white kitten and a yellow pencil, all on a sparkling rainbow background. After making(2) the poster, they head to the central market of Mini-Town for Little Shopkeepers, ready to sell their creations. Madame Pitch, their mentor, waits for them with a mysterious smile. She always wears a purple dress with golden stars and a pointy black hat. She has a silver necklace with a moon-shaped pendant(3). She explains that it is time for them to learn how to set a fair price for their products.

Madame Pitch, with a teaching smile, then explains to them: « You need to figure out the cost of making things. Add the price of the materials, the time spent, and a little extra(4). »

Mila, with a determined smile, starts to explain:
« Okay! Let's start with our treasure box. The box costs one euro. Decorating took an hour. »

Samy, after thinking for a moment, says:
« Let's add a little extra. The price will be two euros. »

After setting the price for the treasure box, they move on to the heart-shaped keychain. They calculate the cost of the thread, the fabric, and the time spent making it. Then, they tackle a little drawing notebook. They note the price of the paper, the pencils, and the time spent creating it.

Mila, with her idea notebook in hand, explains:
« Now, for the heart-shaped keychain, we calculated the cost of the wire and the fabric. The keychain costs one euro fifty. To make sure we don't lose money, we will add a little extra. The price will be two euros. »

Samy, after doing his math, announces:
« The sketchbook costs one euro. Let's add a little extra. The price will be two euros. »

By calculating carefully, Mila and Samy find a little magic ticket printed in their notebook: a precious clue(5) for their selling adventure.

The Magic Ticket

Mila and Samy look at the magic ticket with curiosity. They wonder what it contains. They decide to open it together.

Mila, after looking at the magic ticket, says:
« Read it out loud, Samy. »

Samy, thinking out loud, says: « Mila and I have had feedback(6) from customers before, but this ticket might give us a clue to better understand what they want. We should follow this clue and see where it takes us. »

Mila, excited, says:
« Let's go quickly! »

After reading the ticket, Mila and Samy go to the Return Box. They read the customer reviews. They see that customers like their products. They also see suggestions for improving their prices.

Madame Pitch, with an encouraging smile, says:
« You have done well, Mila and Samy. Success depends on making customers happy. »

With their magic ticket in their pocket, Mila and Samy are guided to the Advice Agency. They find boards filled with colorful sticky notes(7) and client ideas. They learn to read the clients' wishes to create products that truly please. They also meet a cute black cat named Luna, who helps them understand the clients' needs. Soon after, they are told that their business adventure is just beginning. They are eager to discover new ways to satisfy their clients and keep on learning.
