The Meeting with The Astronomer
After discovering the secrets of the kitchen and the mysteries of bread dough with the village baker, Lucas and Elodie, along with their chatty parrot, Coco, and their curious fox, Remi, decide to head to the park. They learn that each ingredient and each step of making bread tells a unique story, just like the mysteries of the stars they are about to explore. Lucas's endless curiosity and Elodie's wild imagination drive them to want to know more about the stars, after being amazed by the mysteries of the bakery.
Not long after they arrived at the park, Lucas, who wears glasses, a notebook, and a pen clipped to his collar, and Elodie, who has blond hair tied in a ponytail and wears a camera around her neck, spot an old man. He is wearing a long blue robe covered with golden stars. Curious, they go closer.
Lucas, curious, asks:
« Who are you? »
Elodie, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, asks:
« Do you know the stars? »
The Astronomer, with a mysterious smile, says: « I am The Astronomer (1). I love stars. »
The Astronomer, with a mysterious smile, begins to explain:
« Stars are big balls of hot gas. They shine because of nuclear reactions. »
The Astronomer, with a mysterious smile, starts to explain: « These reactions turn hydrogen (2) into helium (3). They release lots of energy. That's the light and heat you see. »
The children listen carefully. They have bright eyes full of curiosity. They decide to write an exciting article about constellations (4) (5) and planets. They want to share their new knowledge with other children.
They write a exciting article about constellations and planets. Their article helps kids understand the night sky. But an unexpected surprise is waiting for them.
Writing the Article
After writing their article, Lucas and Elodie get a letter. It is from The Astronomer. He invites them to visit his observatory.
Lucas, eyes shining with excitement, says:
« We are going to see The Astronomer. »
Elodie, excited, says:
« Yes, he will explain why the stars shine. »
The Astronomer, with a kind smile, says:
« Welcome, kids. Do you have any questions about the stars? »
Lucas, curious, asks:
« Why do stars twinkle? »
The Astronomer, with a mysterious smile, explains: « The Earth's atmosphere (6) is full of turbulence (7). It bends (8) the light from the stars. That's why they seem to twinkle. »
After exploring the mysteries of the night sky with their new friend, The Astronomer, Lucas and Elodie can't wait to share their new knowledge. They decide to write an exciting article about constellations and planets. To illustrate their article, they visit a local artist, along with the chatty parrot who tells them stories about the stars, and the curious fox who carefully observes every detail. They will learn how colors are used to show the wonders of the universe and why they are so important in their illustrations.
