📝 Quick summary of key information

How does water get to the houses?

The water we use every day to drink, wash, or play comes from far away. It often comes from rivers, lakes, or underground water. To get to our homes, the water is pumped and carried through big pipes to tanks.

Next, a plumber puts pipes in the walls and floors of houses so that water can flow to the faucets and bathrooms. These pipes are put in right at the start of building the houses, so everything works well once the houses are finished.

Pipes carry water from tanks to faucets and bathrooms, so people have running water. With this system, water comes right to our homes, ready for all our daily activities.

The Magic Pipes

How does water get into the houses?

Meeting the Plumber

After watching the builders place the first bricks of the future school, Léon and Lila are amazed. They discover how the bricks, one by one, turn into strong walls under the skilled(1) hands of the builders, helped by the big construction dog, a German Shepherd, who watches and brings the tools. Everyone has a special job to move forward together. Léon, with his too-big yellow helmet, and Lila, with her drawing notebook, walk around the construction site, always curious(2) to discover new jobs. Mister Pole, the foreman, strong with an orange vest, a white beard, and safety glasses, guides them with passion and explains each step of the construction.

Not long after, Léon and Lila head to another part of the construction site. They spot a man of average height with a strong build(3), wearing a blue overalls with pockets full of tools, a red and white plaid shirt, and a plumber's cap. He has brown skin, sparkling(4) brown eyes, and a neatly trimmed mustache. He never takes off his tool belt(5), which holds wrenches, screwdrivers, and other magical tools. It’s The Plumber Samir, who is installing blue and red pipes in a trench.

Léon, curious about the pipes, asks:
« Why are the pipes different colors? »

The Plumber Samir, with a warm smile, explains:
« The blue pipes carry cold water. The red pipes carry hot water. »

Lila, curious, points at the sticker and asks:
« And this symbol on the pipe? »

The Plumber Samir, always ready to share his knowledge, explains:
« The arrows show the direction of the water flow. Water always goes in the same direction. »

A pipe has a mysterious(6) sticker on it. It shows a water drop with arrows around it. Is this another hidden symbol?

The Mystery of the Pipes

Léon and Lila look carefully at the sticker on the pipe. They are curious about the arrows and the water drop. They wonder what it means.

Léon, curious about the sticker, asks:
« Why are there arrows on the pipe? »

The Plumber Samir, always ready to help, explains:
« The arrows show the direction of the water. They help to install the pipes correctly. »

Lila, curious, asks then:
« And the water drop? »

The Plumber Samir, with a warm smile, explains:
« The water drop shows that this is a water pipe. It's important so we don't make a mistake. »

The children are told that the arrows show the direction of the water and that the water drop means it's a water pipe. Léon and Lila are fascinated by these explanations. They understand better how water flows in houses. They then continue to help The Plumber Samir lay the pipes, following the arrows and the symbols.

While Léon and Lila are amazed by the colorful pipes of The Plumber Samir, a loud noise and flashes(7) of light catch their attention. Curious, they head to another part of the construction site, where an electrician, helped by his loyal German Shepherd dog, is working on the electrical installations. The electrician unwinds long colorful wires and fixes outlets in the walls, while the German Shepherd dog carefully watches the surroundings. Léon and Lila wonder what the electrician is doing. Mister Pole, who is watching them from afar, waves at them and smiles. He knows that the children are ready for a new adventure and a new discovery.
