📝 Quick summary of key information
What is a solar plane and how does it work?
A solar plane is an airplane that flies using the sun's energy. It uses solar panels to capture the sunlight and turn it into electricity.
Solar panels are like tiny factories that take sunlight and turn it into electric energy. This energy powers the airplane's engines, letting it fly without fuel.
Solar planes are very eco-friendly. They do not make pollution, unlike traditional planes that use fuel. They are a great choice to protect our planet.
A famous solar plane is the Solar Impulse. It flew around the world without a drop of fuel, showing that clean flying is possible. The main parts of this plane are the solar panels and the electric motors.

Solar Planes: The Future of Flying
What is a solar plane and how does it work?
The Discovery of Solar Planes
Diego and Mia discovered super fast planes. They flew over the desert and saw a falcon doing loops. The falcon inspired them to explore new things. Diego, in blue with his aviator glasses and white helmet, and Mia, in red with her aviator glasses and black helmet, smiled. They knew their next adventure would be just as awesome. As they flew over the sand dunes, they saw a bright light. They followed the light to a clearing where a solar (1) plane was shining under the sun.
Diego, curious about the light, asks:
« What is this? »
Mia, with a delighted smile, explains:
« This is a solar plane. It flies with the power of the sun. »
Diego, curious, asks:
« How does it work? »
Mia, curious, explains: « Solar panels catch the light. They turn it into electricity (2) (3). The airplane flies with this energy. »
After hearing Mia's explanation, Diego and Mia decided to explore the solar plane more closely. They landed near the plane and started to examine it carefully. Diego noticed the big panels on the wings. Mia explained that these panels capture the sunlight. Soon after, they decided to get on board to better understand this technology.
Once on board, Diego and Mia looked at the airplane controls (4). They saw the electric motors and the batteries. They asked to join a solar flight mission. They wanted to see this airplane in action. They can't wait to learn how solar energy can power airplanes.
The Solar Flight Mission
Diego and Mia were chosen for a solar flight mission. They put on their helmets and sat in the cockpit (5). Diego turned on the electric engines. Mia checked the instruments. The airplane started to roll on the runway. Diego pushed the controls. The airplane took off. They saw the ground getting smaller. Diego felt very happy. Mia enjoyed the view. They flew above the clouds. Diego asked Mia how the airplane could fly so long.
Mia, with a smile lit up by curiosity, explains:
« Solar panels catch the light. They turn it into electricity. »
Diego, curious, asks:
« What about at night? The solar plane can fly at night too thanks to batteries that store solar energy collected during the day. »
Mia, curious and determined, explains:
« The batteries store energy during the day. They power the plane at night. »
Diego and Mia continued their flight. They flew over mountains and forests. They saw wild animals. Diego piloted the plane carefully. Mia watched the instruments. They flew all day. They saw the sun set. They admired the starry sky. They flew all night. They used the stored energy. They landed at sunrise. They completed their mission.
Diego, amazed, says:
« It was a wonderful adventure. We flew without any noise. »
Mia, excited, adds:
« Yes, and it doesn't pollute. It's good for the planet. »
As Diego and Mia finish their solar mission, they receive a mysterious message from a scientist. He talks about a rare bird, the Andean condor, which seems to have disappeared. Intrigued, they are already getting ready for a new adventure. This time, they will have to fly over the snow-covered mountains in a special plane to find this majestic bird and discover the secrets of its disappearance. Diego and Mia landed at Dream Airport (6), where they shared their discoveries with their friends. They explained the importance of solar planes for a greener and more sustainable future. As they were talking, a message arrived on their tablet. A scientist was talking to them about a rare bird, the Andean condor, which seemed to have disappeared. Intrigued, Diego and Mia decided to go look for it. They got ready for a new adventure, this time aboard a special plane to fly over the snow-covered mountains. Diego, with his blue suit, and Mia, with her red suit, were ready to take on this new challenge. They took off under the amazed gaze of their friends, ready to uncover the secrets of the Andean condor's disappearance.
