📝 Quick summary of key information

How do you take care of a cut or a little boo-boo?

A little boo-boo is a small hurt on the skin. It can be a cut, a scrape, or a scratch. Little boo-boos often happen when we play or explore the world around us.

It's important to clean a wound to keep germs out of your body. Germs can make the wound hurt more and take longer to heal.

To clean a wound, first wash your hands. Then, clean the wound with clean water and soap. After that, put on a cleaning product like hydrogen peroxide or betadine.

After cleaning, it is important to put on a bandage. The bandage protects the wound from dirt and germs. It also helps keep the wound clean and makes it heal faster.

To help someone who has a boo-boo feel better, talk softly and tell them what you are going to do. You can also say they are brave and that the boo-boo will soon heal.

Nurse Zoe's Caring Care

How to take care of a wound or a little boo-boo?

At the First Aid Corner

After learning how to take the temperature of a feverish teddy bear, it's time for Éliott and Nour to face new challenges(1) at the Little Carers Clinic. In the Teddy Room, Éliott and Nour were shown how to examine a feverish teddy bear gently. They learned to take the temperature using a special thermometer for teddy bears, carefully placing the end under the bear's paw. Then, the results were written down in a notebook while gently stroking the bear's head to reassure it. Through this experience, they understood the importance of patience and precision(2) in making diagnoses(3). With this new skill, the two children head to the First Aid Corner, where Nurse Zoe awaits them with a warm smile.

Nurse Zoe, with a warm smile, says:
« Hello Nour. Today, we are going to learn how to put on a star-shaped bandage. »

Nour, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, says:
« Wow, I want to learn how to put on a bandage. »

Éliott, with a curious smile, adds:
« Me too, I want to know how to do it. »

Nurse Zoe, with a reassuring smile, explains: « First, you need to clean the wound. Take this bottle of disinfectant(4). Apply it gently on the wound. »

After showing how to gently apply disinfectant liquid on a stuffed rabbit's imaginary wound, Nurse Zoe shows Éliott and Nour how to unroll a roll of tape to put on a star-shaped bandage. That's when Nour discovers a small hidden sticker with a happy teddy bear symbol to collect. The precision with which Nurse Zoe puts on the bandage fascinates Éliott, who mentally notes every move to be able to do it later.

A little while later, a small stuffed bunny runs in. It has a little scratch(5) on its paw. Nour and Éliott are ready to help.

Kindness and Precision

After the star-shaped bandage is put on, Nurse Zoe explains that kindness, precision, and attention are essential to help a patient heal. The children then understand the importance of these qualities for taking care of others, just like they did with the stuffed bunny.

Nurse Zoe talks to the children to give them advice:
« Watch carefully. Speak softly. Comfort the bunny. »

Nour, with endless gentleness, says:
« I will do it. Don't worry, little bunny. »

Éliott, with determination in his voice, says:
« It's mine. You are brave, little bunny. »

Nurse Zoe, with a reassuring smile, says:
« Very good. Now, check the bandage. Change it if needed. »

Nurse Zoe shows how to remove the bandage without hurting. She cleans the wound again before putting on a new bandage. Éliott and Nour are amazed. They understand that every move counts.

With a warm smile, Nurse Zoe shows the children how to put a star-shaped bandage on the little teddy bear. While unwinding a roll of adhesive tape, Nour finds a small hidden sticker with a happy teddy symbol to collect. Elliott and Nour, fascinated by this new skill, head to another part of the clinic. They then discover midwife(6) Claire, ready to help a baby bunny doll be born in a soft blanket. With the excitement of new adventures, Elliott and Nour get ready to learn even more about care and the mysteries of the Little Caregivers Clinic.
