📝 Quick summary of key information

How do architects imagine houses before they are built?

Plans are drawings that show the shape, size, and location of the parts of a building. They are like a map that guides the builders to build the house.

Architects draw the plans for houses. They use their imagination and their knowledge to create spaces where people can live happily and safely.

When an architect draws a house, they think about strength, light, and beauty. They want the house to be strong to stand against time and bad weather, and beautiful so people want to live in it.

Plans are very important because they show how the house will be built and where the different rooms will be. They help the builders know exactly what they need to do.

The Secrets of the Plans

How do architects imagine houses before they are built?

The Mysteries of the Plans

After exploring the wonders of the Machine Park, Léon and Lila head to the Plan Cabin, eager to learn how houses take shape before they are even built. With a big smile, Mister Pole, a strong man in an orange vest, with a white beard and safety glasses, greeted them at the Big Construction Site(1). He showed them the plans for the future neighborhood, pointing to the colorful houses, the spacious school, and the winding(2) road. A curious(3) striped cat watched them from afar, wondering what role it might play in this big construction adventure. Léon, with his too-big yellow helmet and blue overalls full of pockets, was particularly fascinated by the plans. Lila, a little girl in pink safety boots, with a sketchbook in her hands, carefully observed the plans, her eyes shining with curiosity.

Lila, curious, then asks: « Now that we have seen the plans of the neighborhood, I would like to see the plans of the house in detail. How do architects(4) draw the doors, windows, and walls? »

Lila, squinting her eyes in concentration, says:
« I see a little star drawn by hand, hidden in the playground. What is it? »

After following Lila into the Plan Cabin, Lila flips through big rolls with The Architect. The symbols(5) for doors, windows, and walls are explained. Each symbol shows an important part of the house. For example, a small open square means a door, a long rectangle means a window, and parallel lines mean walls.

Lila, curious about the symbols, asks:
« Why is there a square? »

Lila, curious about what she sees, asks:
« What's this? »

While looking at a school map, she notices a little star drawn by hand, hidden in the playground. A secret clue?

The Magic of Symbols

Lila shows the star to The Architect. She wants to know what it means. The Architect smiles and explains that it's a secret symbol.

Lila, curious, asks:
« What is a secret symbol? »

Léon, his eyes sparkling with excitement, whispers:
« Maybe a hidden treasure. »

Lila, her eyes wide open, whispers then:
« A treasure? »

The Architect laughs and shakes his head. He explains that it's a surprise for the children at the school. A special place to play.

Léon, with sparkling eyes, asks then:
« A secret place to play? »

Curious about the little star on the plan, Lila, in her pink safety boots and holding a sketchbook, is joined by Léon in the Machine Park. Along the way, they meet a German Shepherd dog that barks happily, as if inviting them to discover the power of the machines. Léon, already amazed, wears a too-big yellow helmet and a blue overalls full of pockets. Lila explains to him that the excavator(6), with its big shovel, can dig holes for the foundations of buildings. They are led to the crane(7), where Léon dreams of one day driving this metal giant. A strong man in an orange vest, with a white beard and safety glasses, joins them and says with a wink: 'Tomorrow, we will discover together how walls come to life thanks to the masons.' Léon and Lila look at each other, eager to live this new adventure.
