📝 Quick summary of key information
Why is it important to protect biodiversity?
Biodiversity is like a big party where every guest is unique. Imagine animals like elephants, butterflies, and trees. Each one has its place and role in nature.
Protecting biodiversity means making sure all these guests can keep living in harmony. Plants and animals depend on each other to survive. For example, bees help flowers make seeds.
Unfortunately, there are dangers like deforestation, pollution, and climate change. These threats can make species disappear and disrupt the natural balance. It's like some guests can't come to the party.
To help, we can plant trees, save water, and reduce waste. By learning and taking action, children become nature's guardians, ready to protect this beautiful gift called biodiversity.

Awareness Activities
After learning to grow vegetables and fruits in an urban community garden, the children discovered the benefits of urban farming. With simple techniques, they learned to turn city spaces into real green oases. That's how the idea of organizing a big party to celebrate nature and teach children about the importance of biodiversity was born. A beautiful park, filled with trees, flowers, and little animals, was chosen for the event. The children were excited to see what had been prepared for them.
Karim, with a big smile, says:
« Today, we are going to talk about biodiversity. »
Laetitia, with an enthusiastic smile, starts to talk: « Today, we are going to explore together why every species plays a crucial role in our ecosystem (1). Imagine this, without bees to pollinate (2) the flowers, we would not have fruits and vegetables to eat. And without birds, who eat harmful insects (3), our gardens would be invaded by pests. That is why it is so important to protect biodiversity, so that every species can continue to play its essential role in nature. »
Karim, with a big smile, starts to explain:
« Bees pollinate the flowers. This helps plants to reproduce. »
Laetitia, with a smile, starts to explain:
« Butterflies have special colors. This helps them hide or find friends. »
Not long after, Karim and Laetitia showed some snakes. They explained how snakes move. The children were amazed. They asked lots of questions. Karim and Laetitia answered with real examples. Karim showed interactive demonstrations. The children understood better the importance of protecting each species.
They discover different species and learn how to protect biodiversity for a healthier environment.
The Biodiversity Challenges
After learning how important it is to protect each species, the children continue their exploration. They are then guided by Karim and Laetitia to a big tree. The leaves and fruits of this tree are shown to the children. Under the leaves, insects are discovered, hidden from sight.
Karim, with a smile, starts to explain: « Insects eat leaves. They help make humus (4). »
Laetitia, who loves nature, explains:
« Humus feeds the plants. It is very important for the earth. »
Karim, with a smile, explains:
« Plants give us oxygen. We breathe this oxygen. »
Laetitia, pointing at the branches, explains:
« Trees protect us from the sun. They give us shade. »
After spending a wonderful day at the Nature Festival, Karim and Laetitia challenge the kids to a new adventure. Karim wears a green shirt with tree and leaf badges, and a backpack full of eco-friendly tools. Laetitia, a nature-loving expert in sustainability (5), wears a blue jacket with wave and fish patterns. She has long blonde hair tied in a ponytail. The goal is to discover and use different types of renewable energy. Solar, wind, and hydro energy are explored. A curious squirrel joins them, showing the kids how animals can also benefit from these new technologies. The children are excited to see what Karim and Laetitia have planned for their next adventure. They know that each discovery brings them one step closer to protecting the planet.
