📝 Quick summary of key information
How does a robot see light and hear sounds?
A robot is a machine that can do lots of things. But how does it see light or hear sounds? Robots have special sensors. These sensors send signals to the robot to tell it what they sense.
For example, a light sensor helps the robot see if it is day or night. A sound sensor helps it hear noises. When the robot gets these signals, it can react, just like we do when we see or hear something.
For example, a robot can turn on a light if it's dark or stop if it hears a loud noise. This is how robots interact with the world around them!
Robots can react to the outside world just like humans react to what they see or hear. Robots use sensors to feel light and sounds. The signals from the sensors make the robots react.

Sensors in Action
Chip and Pixel found lots of interesting things while exploring electronics. Chip barked near an old oscilloscope (1), while Pixel looked at the lights through a magnifying glass. They learned that their sensors could see invisible details. After understanding all that, they decided to go on an adventure to an even more magical place: the Sensor Garden.
Soon after, Chip and Pixel entered the Sensor Garden. The flowers moved gently. Chip barked. The flowers moved faster. Pixel walked closer softly. The flowers moved even faster.
Chip, very excited, shouts:
« Look, Pixel! The flowers move when I come near. »
Pixel, amazed, says:
« Yes, Pixel! They move when I come close too. »
Chip, amazed, exclaims:
« It's magical! »
Pixel, amazed, says then:
« Yes, it's magic! »
The narrator explains that, just like humans react to what they see or hear, robots can also react to the outside world thanks to their sensors.
The Mysteries of the Garden
Chip and Pixel have learned that their sensors react to the world. Chip can pick up sounds with his sound sensors and movements with his light sensors.
Chip, very excited, suggests:
« Pixel, do you want to play hide and seek with the lights? »
Pixel, excited, says:
« Okay, Chip! I will hide and you will have to find me with your light sensors. But first, let's take a walk to see what sounds and movements we can pick up together. »
Chip, curious, suggests:
« Okay, but first, I will see if I can capture interesting lights with my sensors. We could even try to see if they react when I get closer. »
After exploring the sounds and movements in the garden, Chip is drawn to a glowing butterfly. The flowers then come to life with his movements. Pixel listens carefully to the whispers (2) of the flowers that react to their presence. A flower is heard whispering softly.
Pixel, curious, says:
« Chip, I hear a soft sound. »
Chip, all excited, says:
« I see a little light under a leaf. »
Their exploration of the Sensor Garden amazed them, but a new curiosity calls. As Chip and Pixel move away from the glowing butterfly and the whispering flower, they have fun triggering reactions, discovering that their own movements influence this magical garden. They move away from the glowing butterfly and the whispering flower, they are drawn to a new discovery. As they leave the garden, it is decided that the little robot dog Chip and the little robot cat Pixel head to a quiet room. It is then discovered if their circuits (3) can create dreams, soft and bright images. It is then questioned if robots' dreams are as colorful as humans'. It is then hoped to see fantastic (4) landscapes scroll in front of Chip's bright sensors. Together, they venture into the Digital (5) Dream Room, ready to discover the mysteries of their own thoughts.
