📝 Quick summary of key information

How do you make a robot dance or talk?

A robot is a smart machine that can do tasks. Imagine a metal friend who can play, dance, or even talk! Robots follow exact instructions written in programming language, like recipes for machines.

To make a robot dance, programmers use loops. A loop is like a song that you repeat over and over. For example, a robot can have a loop to lift one leg, then the other, and so on, until it dances like crazy!

The rules let robots change how they act depending on what is happening. For example, a robot can be told to say Good morning in the morning and Good night in the evening. If you ask it to talk, it knows what to say because of these rules, just like an actor who changes roles.

Giving clear instructions to robots is very important. If the instructions are not clear, the robot might make mistakes, like a chef who ruins a recipe. Good programmers make sure each command is clear and precise, so the robot works perfectly.

The Robot Village

How to make a robot dance or talk?

The Village Robots

Aïcha and Kenji opened the doors of the Code Castle with magical numbers. They go to a bright village where robots dance and play music. Robot Bipo, their curious and inventive friend, joins them. He has four small articulated arms to help solve puzzles(1). In this happy village, the robots follow special instructions(2). The children want to learn how to control them.

Aïcha, amazed, says:
« Look at the robots! They are dancing and playing music. »

Kenji, amazed, says:
« This is awesome! They tell jokes too. »

Robot Bipo, always ready to help, then says: « I will analyze(3) their movements. »

Soon after, Aïcha watches the robots with her rainbow computer(4). She sees lines of code on their screens. Kenji imagines games with dragons and mazes. Robot Bipo, a small, round, and compact robot with colorful lights blinking on his forehead, understands that the robots repeat actions using loops and conditions(5).

Aïcha, her eyes shining with excitement, then says: « I want to program(6) a robot that dances. »

Kenji, with a big smile, says:
« I want a robot that talks. »

Robot Bipo, excited, then says:
« We are going to program a robot together. »

Aïcha and Kenji program their own robot by adding rules like: 'If I say hello, he laughs!' and have lots of fun. They can't wait to see their robot dance and talk.

Programming and Magic

After spending hours programming their robot, Aïcha and Kenji are amazed by the endless possibilities they have created. They can already imagine the moments of joy and laughter that their robot will bring, by dancing and talking according to the conditions they have set. Their excitement grows at the thought of seeing their creation come to life and sharing these magical moments with their friends.

Aïcha, with sparkling eyes, then says:
« I am going to write lines of code for the dance. »

Kenji, very excited, then says:
« I am going to add conditions for talking. »

Robot Bipo, all excited, announces:
« Now that you have set the rules for dancing and talking, I will add sensors and motors so our robot can really move and interact with you! »

After a few tries, Robot Bipo starts to dance and talk. Aïcha and Kenji are so happy to see their creation come to life. They have so much fun, making Robot Bipo dance and talk according to their instructions.

Aïcha, amazed, says:
« Look, it dances in time! »

Kenji, amazed, says:
« And he talks too! »

Robot Bipo, very excited, shouts:
« Super, I work great! You programmed me well! »

After adjusting the algorithms(7), Robot Bipo dances and talks perfectly. The children are proud of their creation and decide to show their robot to the other villagers. Everyone is impressed by their work and congratulates them. While they were playing with their new robot friends, a glowing door suddenly appears in front of them. Curious about this mysterious appearance, Aïcha and Kenji approach and discover that a mysterious program calls them into a changing maze, where each wall reacts differently depending on the code used. Kenji and Aïcha must now navigate this magical maze, guided by algorithms that change the paths every moment. But be careful, some paths are guarded by mechanical wolves that guide them. A new adventure begins for our friends, filled with challenges and discoveries.
