📝 Quick summary of key information

How can light make shadows and reflections?

Light is all around us. It comes from the sun, lamps, and other sources. It lights up our world and helps us see colors and shapes.

A shadow forms when an object blocks the light. For example, when you stand in front of a lamp, your body blocks the light and makes a shadow behind you. Shadows can be fun to watch and play with.

Shadows are helpful in our environment. They protect us from the sun when it's hot, and they can even be used to play hide and seek. Shadows help us understand where the light is.

A reflection happens when light bounces off a smooth surface like a mirror or water. For example, when you look in a mirror, you see your reflection. Reflections let us see ourselves and see objects reflected in the water.

Light and Shadow Play

How can light make shadows and reflections?

The Bright Experiments Room

After discovering the secrets(1) of the laws of motion, Noa and Nina, amazed, watch a beam of light turn into a rainbow. Sir Isaac Newton, a passionate and kind scientist, explains to them that white light is made up of all the colors of the rainbow. They then understand that light can break down into different colors when it passes through a prism(2), revealing(3) the mysteries of light. Soon after, Isaac invites them into the Experiment Room. This room is filled with mirrors and colorful bottles.

Noa, curious, asks:
« What do we do here? »

Nina, amazed, says:
« It's amazing, all these shapes dancing around us! It's like we can move them with the mirrors! »

Noa, curious, asks:
« Yes, but why the mirrors? »

Nina, her eyes shining with excitement, says:
« Look, I'm going to try to draw these shapes with the mirrors! »

Isaac Newton smiles. He shows them how to handle the mirrors. Dancing shapes appear around them. Curious Noa lines up the mirrors. An image forms on the wall. Dreamy Nina draws the colorful reflections that dance on the walls. They discover that light can be bent(4) and changed, creating shadow and light games.

By lining up the mirrors, an image appears on the wall: it's the last puzzle(5) to solve to end their magical adventure. Noa and Nina look at each other, ready to find out(6) what this image hides.

The Riddle of Reflections

Noa and Nina look at the mysterious picture on the wall. They wonder what it means. They decide to think together.

Noa, curious, asks:
« What is this picture? »

Nina, curious, whispers:
« I don't know. We must find. »

Noa, with a puzzled look, asks:
« Yes, but how? »

Nina, curious, says:
« Let's look at the reflections carefully. »

Noa and Nina carefully line up the mirrors. They watch each reflection. They see shapes and colors. They understand that each reflection hides part of the answer.

As the mirrors are carefully lined up, an image appears on the wall: it's the last puzzle to solve. Dancing shapes appear around the children, and each reflection hides a part of the answer. A barn owl then flies down from the ceiling, whispering clues. The children understand that the key to solving this puzzle is careful observation(7) and understanding the laws of light. Back in the Dusty Attic, the symbols found are reviewed and Isaac Newton helps to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Once the puzzle is solved, the children are already getting ready to discover new adventures in Isaac Newton's Magical Book.
