The Secrets of the Lizards' Colors
Why do some lizards have bright colors?
The colors of the lizards
On Rainbow Lizard Island, Mila and Max hear the melodies of many colorful (1) lizards. Each scale is special to shine in the sun, attract insects, or find fruits. This is why the lizards have such different scales (2), each one fitting their unique home. Soon after, the children spot a small, shiny green lizard. It watches them curiously (3). Intrigued (4), they decide to follow it. This is how they meet Lino the Lizard, a little explorer who loves adventures. Lino invites them to follow him on Rainbow Lizard Island, where the secrets of the lizards' bright (5) colors will be revealed.
Max, curious, asks:
« What is this island? »
Mila, curious, says:
« I don't know. Let's go see! »
After following Lino the Lizard, Mila and Max arrive at Rainbow Lizard Island. They are amazed by the bright colors of the lizards hiding in the bushes and flowers. The bright colors can attract partners or warn of predators (6). This is how they find Lino the Lizard playing hide-and-seek in the bushes.
Max, eyes wide open, exclaims:
« Look, Mila, the rainbow lizard! »
Mila, amazed, shouts:
« He is wonderful! »
Max, curious about the rainbow lizard, says:
« I'm going to watch him with my binoculars. »
Max, with his binoculars, carefully watches the rainbow lizard's movements. He writes down the different colors and their positions in his notebook. Mila, meanwhile, collects leaves and flowers to compare the colors. Together, they discover that lizards' colors can also be used to impress or attract others, showing their strength or health to other lizards. While dancing to impress another lizard, Lino the Lizard drops a shiny scale that contains a clue (7) for the next part of the adventure.
The mysterious clue
Max and Mila look at the shiny scale. They are curious about its color and shape. They decide to take a closer look. Lino the Lizard joins them and looks carefully.
Lino the Lizard, after watching carefully, says:
« Look at this picture carved on the scale. »
Max, with his eyes wide open, exclaims:
« It's a map! »
Mila, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, asks:
« Where does it lead? »
Lino the Lizard, eyes shining with excitement, then says:
« Let's follow the map. We will discover a new island. »
With a new clue in their pocket, Mila and Max set off for the Island of Climbing Plants, where they will discover how climbing plants like vines reach for the sky. By observing the leaves and flowers, they will understand how plants use stems and tendrils to reach the sunlight. Lino the Lizard, with his usual enthusiasm, encourages them to explore every corner of the island. Together, they get ready for a new adventure full of discoveries and natural wonders.
