📝 Quick summary of key information

How do we discover the secrets of nature like a real explorer?

To become a nature explorer, you need special tools. Binoculars help you see far away without being seen. A notebook is for writing down what you observe. A magnifying glass helps you see small things up close.

Watching animals and plants in their environment is very important. It helps us understand how they live and what they do. For example, birds eat insects and plants give us oxygen.

To watch animals without bothering them, you need to be quiet. Walk softly and hide behind trees or bushes. This way, the animals can live their lives without worrying.

In a garden or a park, you can see many interesting things. Birds that sing, insects that fly, and flowers of all colors. Every little discovery is an adventure.

The Adventure of the Little Explorers

How do you discover nature's secrets like a real explorer ?

Getting Ready for the Expedition

With their magnifying glasses, Mila and Max discovered amazing adaptations(1). They watched how a bromeliad(2) flower holds water for animals, and how a stick insect(3) looks like a leaf to hide(4) from its predators. These observations showed them how clever and full of surprises nature can be. Soon after, they decided to become real explorers, like Charles Darwin. They chose to explore the secrets of nature, armed with their notebooks and endless(5) curiosity.

Max, with a big smile of excitement, says:
« Let's go to the clearing. We will find lots of interesting things. »

Mila, her eyes sparkling with excitement, then says:
« Yes, and we will build a museum with our findings. »

After gathering leaves, stones, and feathers, they start to draw and write down their observations. Max, with his binoculars, watches the birds and notes their behaviors, while Mila examines the plants and insects. They discover that the colors of the butterflies are not only beautiful but also essential for their survival.

Max, eyes sparkling, exclaims:
« Look, Mila, this butterfly has bright colors. »

After looking at the butterfly closely, Mila explains to Max:
« It's to attract a partner. The colors also help to warn predators. »

Once their notebooks are full of drawings and notes, they decide to compare their findings. They build a little nature museum with their discoveries and find out that every small clue can lead to a big discovery.

Unexpected Discoveries

After comparing their findings, Mila and Max are amazed. They notice details they hadn't seen before. They realize that every animal and every plant has a story to tell.

Max, amazed, shows Mila:
« Look, Mila, this plant has heart-shaped leaves. »

After looking at the plants, Mila tells Max:
« This one has spikes to protect itself. »

Max, pointing at a bird, says:
« Birds with long, thin beaks often eat insects. »

After watching the birds, Mila explains to Max:
« And those with short beaks eat seeds. »

Max, amazed, says: « Look, birds have different colors to hide in their environment. For example, those that live in trees often have green or brown feathers. And some lizards, like chameleons(6), change color to blend in with their surroundings. »

Mila, who loves birds, then says: « For example, some birds have bright colors to attract partners(7). It's also a way to protect themselves by warning predators that they are not easy prey. »

After exploring the wonders of nature and discovering fascinating secrets, Mila and Max find themselves in a big clearing. There, they decide to play a role-playing game where each child becomes an animal with strengths or weaknesses, like a fast lion or a slow turtle. This game will help them understand why some animals survive better than others in nature. They promise to continue their adventures and discover even more nature mysteries. Their next expedition might take them to an island full of giant turtles or a forest filled with climbing plants. One thing is for sure: their curiosity and love for nature will always guide them to new discoveries.
